Shotgun. 10 day forecast shows no snow, sucks. I will be calling the outfitter xmas day to find out if I should be flying out the next day or not.
-
merely an FYI - I have been in rocky mtn national park over 12,000 feet in August and it was still over 70 degrees up there, 90+ down in Boulder, CO. The air is thin up there and it definitely take at least a day to get used it and be able to catch your breath. Lastly, I'm a big fan of Cliff Bars.

Yes, sitting on ground with crossbow, will be wearing BO vest and hat.
-
All of PA has AR, I was to forced to pass on at least 10 smaller bucks because of it.

I'm in the same boat man. Just bought my first place in westchester after renting on the Upper East Side for a couple of years. Marriage is brought up all the time, then kids.
-
Not married yet, im 27. Been with my girlfriend for 3 years. Obviously the wants and needs of westchester and NYC girls are much different than those of Buffalo, Pulaski, etc. lol

I just didnt know any wives or girlfriends were cool with Kay!

Come on man.......don't be had.....its a chain jewelry store. They are going to tell you its worth $5K and then sell it to you for $4K or whatever. Do some research and go to an actual jeweler. Pay for gold/silver according to what it is worth that day. Same with diamonds. It takes 2 seconds to look up what gold or any precious metal is worth. Then go to the jeweler and pay that amount. Its like idiots who sell their gold and silver to the little stands in the mall or those online ad "cash for gold". They are giving you a fraction of what your metal is worth. You should be getting at least 90% of what its worth, not closer to 50%.
-
Kay Jewelers? lol........People actually buy from them?
-
I'd gladly take any of those little guys with the crossbow this upcoming weekend. Which one do you want me to cull for you?

Sucks! Talked to my outfitter in Northern Minnesota and they still have no snow on the ground! Can't hunt bobcats with dogs without the snow. Not sure whats going to happen. I am supposed to fly out 12/26. This is unbelievable. Its under 0 degrees ever day where Im going but they havent gotten snow yet this year. Their Cat season is very short and ends 1/8/12. Normally they have 2+ feet on the ground by now.

Beautiful 8! congrats.

Using Special Golden Estrus

I still havent ever tried this yet. Should I try it this upcoming weekend while hunting with the crossbow? or is too late in the season to use? -
I will be out saturday and sunday with the crossbow for late ML/bow season.

Not sure how it works around here, but I shot a deer in Michigan and it was -18 degrees (without the wind chill), saw 4 bucks that day.

a few springs back I used a hav-a-hart trap at my parents house to trap a woodchuck that kept going under the shed and accidently trapped a baby red fox, the pup was like black in color, very young. As I was releasing the pup (without touching it), the Mother red fox stayed like 30 yards away barking like crazy at me. I thought for sure it was going to attack me, but it didnt. After I released the pup it ran up to the mom and the other pups and they all trotted away.

A Red Fox was screaming like crazy last night behind my parents house in Putnam County. Sounded like a baby or woman screaming. Happens every year (going back a few years now) through the winter during the mating season. It drives all the dogs in the neighborhood nuts, I see peoples outside flood lights going on, etc. Its pretty funny since I bet most other people in the area dont know what it is.

forget talking into it. I would never talk in the woods, but movement-wise. I get nervous lifting up my binocs to look at a deer. I would never want to risk anything seeing me by pulling out a phone, typing, etc.
-
how do you guys type on a phone while hunting? are you all in tree stands with no gloves? lol
-
709am - 429pm? and a full moon, haha.
-
and most importantly when sitting on the ground, DONT MOVE! Dont scratch your face, fix your hat, etc. Sit there as long as you can holding your weapon across your lap and look with your eyes and not your head or whole body.
-
Honestly, I dont see the point and I only hunt from the ground with shotgun, rifle, crossbow, etc.....Just sit against bushes, a big tree, or stone wall, etc. Dont allow yourself to be a silhouette when sitting on a hill. You get the point. A ground blind definitely will limit you compared to no blind when it comes to shooting, etc. Many times I have needed to move 5-10 feet whether it be crawling or whatever to get off that perfect shot. In a ground blind, I would have been screwed needing to unzip or whatever to get out of it.

sitting on the edge of a food plot on state land in PA late afternoon this early November, I had 8 deer walk right past me within 5 yards, including 2 smalls bucks. They even looked at me, but it was like they were looking right through me. Also in PA 1 morning i had a doe and 2 fawns eating the bush I was sitting against. I could have touched them.

for less than $1M you could have a reproduction mount of him right? haha.......i dont understand why anyone would want to hunt hand-fed raised Deer and I never will. Chances are I will never shoot a B&C animal of any species, but my wall of trophy's will continue to grow and I couldnt be more proud of my <100 in. 8 pointer from Putnam County, or my 22lb Coyote from Alberta, etc.
