Any members want to share a review of their season? Yeah, I know the season doesn't end for a month, but for most, it is done tomorrow. Here's mine: Practiced with the bow the least in 25 yrs and was not as excited as I usually am heading into the season. At the start, I hoped to find a unique buck with 1 side turned down that I had passed on last year. I hunted less frequently than usual and never saw the buck I was after. I was fortunate to kill 2 bucks this year, a first for me. I may yet go out in January, as I still have 2 doe tags. We'll see. If I don't, it was still a great year for me. The deer was quartering to as the entry and exit wounds show....but I would not say hard quartering to. I was about 14 feet up and the deer was 10 yards away or less. I felt that the position of the deer (relative to me) was such that the arrow could miss the shoulder and catch both lungs and probably liver, when I took the shot. I spent some time with my grandaughter (around lunchtime) practicing archery in the backyard before heading to the woods. Got the spot I wanted (the spot I hunted Sunday) with perfect wind. Found lots of fresh sign and climbed the same tree I sat Sunday. Around 3:00 ish I saw what I thought was a 6 point headed my way browsing slowly. It took about 5 minutes for the deer to come within range, but behind brush. I kept thinking Crappie would say what a sexy six. Twice I drew and had to let down as the deer took its sweet time to clear the cover. At 15 yards, I drew and held as the deer was facing towards me. Eventually, at about 10 yards the deer turned enough to expose vitals and I let the arrow loose. The deer ran a few yards and I could see my arrow and lighted nock stuck in the ground. The deer walked in a 10 yard circle as if it was trying to figure out what just happened. Then the deer trotted off. That was the strangest reaction I have ever witnessed from a deer that had been wounded. I took compass reading of last sighting of the deer and sat wondering what just happened. Curiosity got the better of me and within 15 minutes, I was on the ground checking out the arrow and looking for confirmation of the hit. I found white hair and the arrow was covered in rumen. My heart sank. Did I blow a 10 yard shot? My mind raced as I tried to understand what went wrong between release and impact and trying to correlate that with the deer's reaction. Nothing made sense, so when in doubt, back out. I packed up, marked the point of impact and headed out. My rout would take me in the direction the deer had headed. Eighty yards away, to my surprise, I saw the deer laying dead. I was so thankful and relieved. I went from one of my lowest of lows to the highest of highs. Turns out the sexy six was a fine five, but I was happy none the less. From what I could tell, the arrow hit both lungs, liver and stomach. Not sure how that happened. Anyway, I am relieved that it was a humane kill. Better yet the deer ran 80 yds closer to the truck, so win-win. The 400 yd drag was all uphill, but I knew that going in. I may still "hunt" in January, but it will be more about getting outdoors than anything else. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Just bumped a decent buck and another deer as I was looking for a three to climb. Hope to see some deer this PM. That's a good spot. I have only hunted it during bow. Good luck! Unless things changed, you have to access from the back side during shotgun season (need 4x4) instead of the usual parking spots along the road that are used in bow season. I would suggest you scout it before opening day and get the lay of the land. Maybe get a buddy and still hunt to nudge deer towards one another. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
