A prototype broadhead is being tested for 2012. I understand it has a 2.3 inch cutting diameter, heavier blades, and a new shock collar design, to replace the o-ring. It's a more effective mechanical then ever offered before.

Gonna be a nice conversation piece to say the least. It deserves to be entered in N.Y.B.B.C. record book. Hope the story shows up.

That a beauty. Any more info?

Congrats to your uncle. Hope he posts the story. Remember, opinions on this site are just that.

Haven't seen a buck since opening day, so decided to bleat a few goes with the old Primos can. A 4 pt popped out of the woods, to the wheat field and started feeding. At 4;51 ( 4:43 sunset) the thickets started moving. Eleven doe fawns and does surfaced. The little 8 came from 148 yds to my right and walked in front of my stand at bow range. They all fed in the field together with a few fawns running around. At last light, another , what I believe to be a buck came in. and started sparring with the little 8. There's no rutting going on here right now, but within the week, all indications are for it to start back up. You got to be in the right spots right now to see the numbers we are seeing. Seen to be on green grass alot right now for the carbs. Corn always pulls them in here too, but not like the grasses this year.

The problem is with these type of people, is unless they are knocked down a notch, they will continue to do it. His actions show this, as he has no respect for the law meaning. I would have called law enforcement right away. I would have no second thoughts on what you did. It was the right thing.

Little breezy this morning here. Someone had to get a deer very badly, early this morning. Two shots went off at 6:28 A.M.. Yesterday was so so in the A.M. Normal shots fired. The afternoon, deer came in, at 4:15, passed on an 8 at 62 yds. Happy with the pass, looking for something a little bigger. Seen a few others . Watched a doe work a scrape, had a shooter come a little later, working the same scrape, out of range.

Wow, two chances in a morning, very nice and glad to see the orange.

Nobody in our hunting party of 6, 2 wmu's, have harvested a deer in 13 years on opening day. That being said, I take my hot tea, heavier coat, and maybe a Hostess cup cake with me. The only thing that has changed over the last 5 weeks, is bow to a gun, the coat, and the cup cake. Oh, the deer have changed alot too. Good Luck.

The only other I would like to add is when you come up on your " trophy." It is very easy to get caught up in the moment. Sometimes excitement over powers common sense. Step back, take a deep breath, and catch your wit. Think, use what ever works for you, to see if the animal is expired. I always worry about my sons, and hope dad has taught them well, and they use that head of theirs.

Something doesn't add up. His son returned the call at 10:30, and the father told him he had a scuffle with the deer. Then at 12:30, he called park officals, for help in transport. In 2 hours, he didn't know he had been stabbed. That kind of a wound into his liver, he had to know he needed medical attention.

Yep, doe are in thick cover and move under the cover of darkness. Common story here year after year about this time. Last mature does seen here was last Saturday night in the woods. Glands on the rear legs just starting to darken. Some of the does fawns look darker than hers. She nursed her doe fawns to the right of me.

Take a look at what given to my 8 year son

Wow, you have some very nice neighbors. -
Nice colored pic. I know the the mature ones we have seen so far, are nocturnal. Your lucky to see him twice in the daytime. We see them once a season. The only exception was the 5 1/2 year old, my son harvested last year, he's on the wall.

Nice pic. Is that from a camera or you phone? Hope you won't be late for work, lol.

doe bedding area with big bucks now little bucks
landtracdeerhunter replied to Geno C's topic in Deer Hunting
Alot of questions to answer there. I can speculate, but that all it would be. I think it would vary, quite a bit, from one side of the state to the other anyways. From what we have seen here, the bucks aren't following the does as much as other years, gone by. Maybe to large of doe pop.. -
Busted wide open here past weekend. Winds have been strong and have to be played right, but the big ones are on the move. Now's the time to be out there. Breeding is in full bore. The bucks smell is very strong. Hope everyone enjoys this as much as I. Good Luck to all.

My son shot a 126"; Nov.-28- 07. Someone else had shot a slug 1 inch to the left of his spinal cord, about mid way on his back, as the deer was running away. Look like it was healing over. We still have the slug. There amazing healers. Thanks for posting the pictures WNY..

The rut playing out to Alsheimer's prediciton this year?
landtracdeerhunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Had a mature 8 pt. breed a doe on the 9th eve, 60 yds in front of the stand. Tried to film but light conditions wouldn't allow. I would say that is when the main rut kicked in here. Mature buck activity has increased all weekend. I don't go by any of that prediction stuff. When I see it with my own eyes, that's when I know it's happening. -
That is to funny.

There's no question, but what that deer jumped the bow string. That would of been a great shot if he hadn't.
