  1. New York Bans Hunting Contest. How many of you knew this was coming down the pipeline? Another strong argument for getting the political thread back in the main steam.
  2. How I interpret this law, game carefully regulated by the state is excluded. The definition of " game carefully regulated by the state", is the error on the side of caution here. I would want several lawyers that are not afraid of fighting the state, backup on this. Now, will this law be challenged in the courts? To be overturned?
  3. A muzzleloader is considered a firearm. It would have been shipped to a FFL, in my opinion.
  4. I'm confused on the definition of this new law; bunch of horse manure, the governor is shoveling.
  5. Tuesday afternoon sit would have been perfect, without the snow on the ground. Had a good size doe come out to the corn, well out of my range. Right at quiting time, five young ones came out of the brush at bow range, crossed one at a time to the corn. Looking to hunt first time between 26th and the 1st. Will have to check the hunting guide, see what can be used.
  6. Use to watch " The Crush" feeder out in the Midwest years ago. This one is a much larger feeding station. Deer are far more social here. Very relaxing in front of a lit Christmas tree.
  7. This has been an on and off active scrape since October. Looks to be on again.
  8. This is quite old. A clutch bag would be my replacement, if this ever wears out . Just slightly longer.
  9. Windy morning; again. Thought deer might move before this front came through. Didn't see one, but found this fresh scrape from last night.
  10. Some great eating right there. Congrats on a great late season hunt. Enjoyed your story. Nice outcome.
  11. Recycled cigarette case. Holds my starter, powder, sabots, and primers. Fits in my orange vest pocket nicely. Been carrying this for years. Really quite handy.
  12. Overcast, light Southeast breeze at 39 degrees. Great morning sit, but not looking for meat.
  13. Another Southwest windy one. Sunny, Very mild. Leaves are blowing around Very dry for this time of the year .
  14. Now that sunrise is so nice to watch brighten. Makes it all worth while Here was my sunrise this morning, lol.
  15. Wow, sunset adding a minute from sunrise. Another minute longer to hunt the afternoons. Sometimes, that's all you need.
  16. Was thinking of another nasty sit. The wind finally dropped off at 4:30. Deer started coming out of the thicket heading for the wheat. Not in range and I shouldn't of ate the cheese for lunch.
  17. Off to a slow start so far. The wind just refuses to subside. Working the wind is almost impossible in these conditions.
  18. Sad part about it is we may never know what happens to him.
  19. We always make room for muzzleloader season. Weather don't look to bad after this wind blows out.
  20. Deer are nocturnal by nature anyways. They can be caught off guard, even at this late date. One has to be there to do that, however.
  21. We remove a section of the 15 footers, and relocated the brace to a middle location. These newer, narrow ladder stands, not so sure. Safest coarse of action would be to contact the manufacturer of the stand. Safety first, is no accident.
  22. We've all experience tough seasons. It part of deer hunting. Maybe deer food sources are the answer. Sounds like you have the soils to till, plant what others haven't. It does help, Late season included .
