  1. We have about the same number of darker colored deer here as on average, I'd say. Only once in 25 years, a nice buck showed up with a chocolate colored rack., dark coat Some of my bow hunting trauma days.
  2. I've been told by old time deer hunters, woods deer that stay out of light conditions, have dark racks. If true, it might go with darker hide color also.
  3. Looks like thermometer may cooperate for opening day. Hopefully, precipitation will do the same. Good luck to those heading out. May your arrows fly true.
  4. My favorite season. Been in practice for weeks now. Some how I never get as much practice as I would like to. My bows getting some age on it, probley should get a new model. Like a perfectly tuned piano though, and hate to get rid of it. One more season, keep telling myself.
  5. As I remember, he was a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. He also knew his muzzle loaders. Nice to hear from you, also.
  6. I still stand by those words today. Wonder how bubba is doing? He was a valuable asset to this site.
  7. This was quite the detour in your hunting plans this season, I'm sure. Hope you have backup plans for a successful season.
  8. Enjoying the cool down on the last. Evening sit for this month
  9. Congrats to the new hunter. My view this morning. Bumped several on the walk out.
  10. Looks like some great opportunity. Elvis has left the building.
  11. I would also be curious to see if they do stay away, this late in the season.
  12. Deer have large livers. Seems odd he sprayed it this late in the year. Years ago, farmers used red clover for green manure plow down and never sprayed it. They got away from that and started using oats because of clover seed prices. I sometimes question these new fangled farming ways.
  13. Another beautiful morning. Breeze circling,. No deer in bow range , but blowing horns. Those of you not going out are missing some great adventures
  14. Could be a different type of Crab Apple, but the ones we have here have thorns coming off the base. They also loose their leaves and fruit in late August. The wood is very hard, like Oak. Doesn't last well outside. Makes great handles.
  15. I don't know about the rest of you but, I paid 62 bucks for 3 sheets of 9 x 11 copy paper which now in likely end up with a bunch of smeared printing on it. The type of weather we hunt in, those papers tags won't stay dry. For 62 bucks, the least this state could do is give out some decent tags.
  16. I guess the state is not concerned about recycling the machines. So much for going green. Do as I say, not as I do.
  17. Something to mention about my previous post: noticed all the 24 models have good size to them. Great eating no doubt, I do know breeding started early last season. I believe, this season will be no exception. Climate change?
  18. Another great cool morning out here. Little foggy though. Saw some good buck potential. My first triplets this season in picture. Great scouting weather and maybe a harvest, we'll see.
  19. Can they be photocopied once? I can see a real problem when the tags get wet and the ink smears.
  20. Is it that time of year again? Some of us get the chance to get out and do some DEER HUNTING. Good luck to all headed a field for this early season. Shoot Straight; Be Safe!
  21. Remember, this system made it easier for the hunter get their tags, to get out in the field faster. Another A I failure.
  22. To each their own. I get some useful information; maybe post some good information for others to view. Take it or leave it !
