  1. If you check my original post, I said tossed one off. We have had deer lose antlers after harvest in shed fashion, for one reason or another. Also have found antlers with pieces of skull attach. Good luck in your search for the other side.
  2. Visibility has lowered in the last hour out here. The woods not as foggy as the open areas. Bit of drizzle thrown into the mix besides.
  3. I had to look on the guide book to get information, as we just don't see bear in our area that often. I did see this about cubs though.
  4. Still in search of that 180. May have to settle for a 165 though.
  5. Rain quit for a short time, deer moved . Rain started again deer went into cover. End of story.
  6. Your entitled to your opinion. I strongly disagree with it, however.
  7. It's a little wet in this area but, not to cold. Bucks are showing up again This guy already tossed one off.
  8. What other forum? Until the above post, I didn't even know the name of the other. Great bunch of folks on here, that's all that counts. That means a lot to me.
  9. The hunting community are the only ones that can bring the younger generation into the sport. We take our grandchildren out in bow season, so they can have more human- deer interaction in nicer weather. A little safer season. Starting them slow, and working up into the firearm season, as they mature. Thanks to those that have taught and taken youth afield, so the hunting tradition can continue.
  10. Means more venison in our freezer. It sure taste good this year with the price of meat going through the roof.
  11. Heart shot deer don't bleed much. They also don't go far
  12. Sunny days, I have no problem seeing in open fields, half hour in and out for safe shooting. In the woods, air on the side of more restriction . If I cannot see in a woods, I don't hunt it. Stating and ending times start after sunrise and end before sunset with central dense overcast. When those thick lake affect snow clouds come a calling, the middle of the day plays unsafe to release a bullet.
  13. Less people will be breaking the law now. Still get some , no doubt.
  14. I know for a fact that any knife that does not take the the form of knife appearance, say credit card, key chain, multi tool, etc. fall under New York knife laws against owning. Some multi tool knives fall in that gray area of the law.
  15. Sounds like Amazon is running on the side of caution with New York knife laws. Pretty soon, New York will be so safe ( they think) and know one will want to live here.
  16. May your lead fly true, for some venison stew..
  17. These picks are an active scrape. Many buck and doe pictures. Not as unusual as one would think.
  18. I don't know how wearing a plastic bag can keep you warm. I spent bucks, some years ago on a set of thermal coveralls. Now that keeps me toasty warm. Layers of clothing underneath. Wool socks keep my toes from falling off, until my feet sweat, then that ends that. My fingers, all bets are off with those.
  19. I remember Wolc's weight - girth chart. Quite a discussion about it, as I recall.
