  1. I'm starting to hear them howling here late evenings again. Looks like we will be heading out for some hunts. Any good pointers on hunting them would be appreciated.
  2. Balmy 55 degrees; just like a Spring day. Young showed early, older later. Unloaded and sat later to enjoy the stars . I believe, caught a glimpse of the Internation Space Station.
  3. Now that a good number of bucks have dropped antlers here, I take my best pair of binos with me. If light conditions are such, or any doubt in my mind at all, I don't shoot. Had a six one half year old, that I had two encounters with at 275 yards. Shots were not safe, so forced to back down. Know the deer well. Sure he has lost his horns also. Era on the side of caution, is my moto
  4. Friday afternoon sit produced a lot of eating machine young ones. A few antlerless bucks and yearly doe also came in. The bucks seem alot more at ease without their horns. Saturday am. brought in a surprising number. With the thaw in progress, easier eating without having to paw through the snow. Looks like tonight could be a good sit, if the winds stay light.
  5. Monday afternoon sit was anything but boring, with the number of deer still grazing on food sources. Good number of young ones rising up the ladder. Two bucks entered, minimus the head gear pushing doe around the field. Maybe find a shed or two in the future. This time of year can give a good assessment of the deer herd. The deer have settled down a lot. Enjoy being out to get sort of a handle on things.
  6. Good luck to you wolc123, to fill another tag or two. That last buck you harvested must have sure added to the venison supply. The weather looks like it will be milder. No doubt, good for the hunter. Most likely will affect deer movement also. I have always enjoyed going out late season. A win win in my book, for those of us that enjoy the sport so much.
  7. Looks like the Holiday hunt is shaping up to a touch on the milder side. Hope more are able to get out and capitalize on some great late season potential. Good luck
  8. I have seen the Roosevelt Lucky Buck, in person at the New York State and Erie County fairs Conservation buildings. It was also featured on the cover of the New York Big Buck Club booklet in 2013, 40 th anniversary edition by the artist Michael Barr. I'm proud to own a copy of it. I'm sure their are copy right laws that prohibit me from reproducing it.
  9. Past generations of my relatives lived off the land, and I'm sure yours did too. We could all write books, of what we've heard. A true realty, not some TV glammer account.
  10. Have quite a few large ones, young and old. Great idea having a trough view camera. Brings them in really close.
  11. I still have one to process yet.
  12. The Progressive Party has done a lot of damage to this country, over the last four years. Going to take a Hugh amount of work to get back to square one .
  13. Nice to see a buck this afternoon. Only trouble is, he was sporting one side. Know the buck and hope to get a crack at him next season. Haven't seen him since around Halloween. Nice to see survivors still showing up. Four fawns and a fox to call it quits till the 26th.
  14. We're still having a high number coming into the clover, grass mixture on afternoon sits, also. Food sources are drawing them in.
  15. They changed it quit a bit this year. Spent a lot of coin doing it. Where do they get the funding for it?
  16. My cheap New York State tags got all smeared up from all the moisture.
  17. LOL, I just used that one Saturday.
  18. A deer convention this afternoon. Shortly after taking the picture, a buck came in and broke it up.
  19. Plenty of deer action here yet. Thursday afternoon, With the moon showing during day light, coupled with the winds subsiding, the food sources, deer started showing about 4:15. Had 2 six points sparing for a few minutes (one pictured). Posted a pic of same deer earlier in this thread. Mature doe are hanging back in the cover; the young's ones sure are surfacing; eating machines. Lost the chance at one mature buck here, lost his antlers. Hope to find his sheds. Some of the best hunting is sure to be had.
  20. Yesterday's sit reminded me of the 1990's with cold and windy weather. This cold weather sure brings the deer into food sources, for sure. I now know my main shooter is antlerless. Plenty of others to fill the bill though.
  21. Mature with only one side. Seen one with no antlers, few days ago chasing doe around . Shed hunting will start early this season.
  22. Watched a fair size deer with no horns chasing doe yesterday afternoon. Not sure what's going on. This one, I"d like to find his sheds
