    Holey smokes, it's starts tomorrow; just realized I don't have tags. Gotta stop to Walmart to get some. Hope they didn't run out.

    I use old nuts, 5/16 and 3/8 " mostly. They work very well and can be picked up on garage sales for a dime a dozen. I don't get excited if I loose them on snags anymore.

    Took a drive last evening to take a look at a rototiller and do a little scouting. Noticed quite a few toms, jakes , and hens on the move in our travels. Some really nice looking turkeys around, of good size. A week ago, hadn't seen a bird, now their popping up all over. Caught a few gobbles, seen some big foot tracks in the mud, and picked up a feather or two. Gobbles killing the silence sure is enough to get one pumped.

    I picked up a cheap blind, some years ago on a yard sale for 8 bucks. It looks somewhat like a tee pee, their isn't much room in it, and it had strings to hold the window shades in place, which I removed the first time using it. The turkey walk right by it looking out the side of their head. I just wink back.

    Not a bird or sign on either place. Usually by this time of year, I see hens and scratch in the woods.

    I use a built-in peacock model call. Working on getting a patent pending on it.

    We make a lemon, garlic, green onion, butter base; wrap in tin foil and put on the outside hot grill. Cook for a few minutes, each side. I do remove the fins and tall however, LOL.

    I like to use a very soft brush to get the coarse. Then I'll take baby wipes to fine clean. Then they get a light coat of Armor All on the hide;protect, make'em shine, slick as a whistle.

    Yes I have. Real dry dusty soil. I put a few old turkey feathers around them. They add more.

    Been catching bullhead with my Ugly Stick in Tonawanda Creek downstream from the Alabama swamps for a few weeks now. Bullhead capital of the state. Plenty of snags; bring lots of hooks and sinkers. Nice cold water makes for better tasting.
