  1. Been out several hours in known drop locations. Not a horn, tooth, or nail. I believe deer will keep what they got, and just add to it, this season, LOL.
  2. Good artist that take extreme pride in their work; it can take a while. If you take as many as we do, turn around rate is about 3- 4 months. He knows the cash is waiting, LOL.
  3. I'm seeing more rabbits while shed hunting. Not finding the dead ones of last winter. They all look to be in good shape this year.
  4. My point: the fines don't fit the crimes. Put them on a road crew digging ditches with a shovel. Have them walking along side the road, or in some of these game preserve parking lots, picking up trash. Hard labor fines stick with people more than money. I suppose the union people would be all over this.
  5. No excuse for ignorance of the law. Handbooks are free where licenses are sold. Did these people lose their license ? More in likely, a slap on the wrist small fine.
  6. I shot my shotgun once yesterday, till the scope came loose. Awful nice sunshine around two oclock. My 20 going to be ready for turkey season this year, LOL.
  7. When the air is fresh and the winds in your favor, can almost sniff them. I almost can tell the day, when I'll find one. A positive attitude is the upmost importance. Here, most of the bucks are still wearing them. I think it will be a later drop because of the mild winter.
  8. We see large groups of deer during muzzleloader season, then over the past several winters, a group of 7 or 8 mature fawns, with two to four mature deer on scattered days. I'm sure patterns will change here once farmers start growing more vegetables with the coming of Pride Pak Canada building a new processing plant, one county over.
  9. All this shed hunting talk made me go out late yesterday afternoon. Soaked up that sunshine, I did. Used the light of the silvery moon to walk through the full ditches. Dam near bought the farm on a boot full. No luck yet. Good luck Biz!
  10. The trees run here Friday afternoon for a few hours. Some of my old standbys ran into Saturday until the sun went behind the clouds. Not the sap flow of mid to late March but, some of the lightest golden amber syrup I have ever made. Monday will be my 3rd boil down day.
  11. Beautiful day yesterday. You just can't beat it for Feburary 20th. Makes you feel like turkey season not that far off. Tapped more maples, new power steering pump on the car, set some trusses on the sugar shack, sold a few ton of hay and shed hunting right up till dark.
  12. It's tough to find sheds when the deer are still wearing them, as in the case around this area. The only thing I might add is somehow, I get the feeling a shed is close by. Sometimes, I actually think I can smell them. What the hell is wrong with me?
  13. I keep a small farm atmosphere to attract game birds. It works!
  14. What does the stock market have to do with this? LOL.
  15. Let'er simmer; " good enough"; two of my favorites. I also can't get over two weeks! Example, how long will it take to remodel the house? When does hunting season end? ( just started, LOL) Answer; two weeks, .
  16. Well, the temp. has dropped from 10 at 5:30 this morning to 0, after clearing skies. I'm ready for a thaw again.
  17. If a person participates in a forum with valuable input , as you have; one never leaves. Your always remembered!
  18. I now have to learn how to make the sheaths for these knives. I have wholesale companies that sell sheaths, but to "plain jane" for my standards. Just can't find anyone in the leather making business. I want some really stand out ones.
  19. About 9 " of real fine snow as of noon, on top of the 10" LE. we got last Friday. More snow on the ground than we've had all winter. Looks like the wax will go on the cross country skis and snowshoes will come out after all.
  20. I have seen three legged bucks before, but usually the front. I don't tend to see them a second season.
  21. Is there room for improvement, definitely. I think the problem lies at a higher level. The penalties are not severe enough for judges to impose on the law breakers. Hit people where it hurts the most, others will sit up and take notice.
