  1. Frustrating morning. I'm sitting over cut corn. Saw 3 feeding about 200yds out. Doe and 2 button bucks. Got down around 9 because I have family stuff to do. As I'm walking along the tree line on the way out i catch movement to my right. A 6 or 8 is cruising through the woods right toward me. I freeze. He suddenly sees me at about 10 yds and stops because he can't quite figure me out. He's on my off side, so I'd have to swing to get a shot. After a few minutes of him trying to figure me out, he turns and walks right under the stand i just left. Then as I'm walking to my last camera, I see that a neighbor left me a gift on one of my stands. I'm clearly on my side of the line but apparently he thinks otherwise. I check my camera and there are several pictures of him walking on my side on different days.. I'm going to have to figure out who this guy is so we can have a chat..
  2. Life can be crazy at times. Makes me that much more appreciative of the calm on mornings like this...
  3. Just got to the stand for probably the final sit before regular season. Calm and cool in 8A. Good luck everyone who's out.
  4. Need more info. Size, topo, food or bedding intel, etc
  5. Sat til about 8:30 in that new spot I have that's close to home. This is my 8th sit this season. The habitat looks great. It's a good mix of open areas with standing hardwoods, and thick brushy areas. When I got down, the land owner came over to chat. He shot a small buck in that area last night, but didn't recover. I asked him where he hit it, how it reacted, etc.. He says he isn't sure where he hit it because the light was fading and his eyesight isn't what it used to be. He says the deer jumped when he hit it and ran off about 30 yards, then walked out of site over a little ridge. We checked the shot site, no blood and no arrow. We walked for a bit along the path he thought it ran. No blood. We did a small grid search from the shot site and eventually found the arrow about 30 yards away. There was blood and a little hair and some meat on it, no guts and no smell. The blood went up probably 8 or 9 inches. I asked again where he thought he hit it and he said he didn't know. I asked where he aimed and he said the middle of the body. He's about 70 and says he shot 3 times and missed, then he shot again and the 4th time he hit it. I told him that I couldn't tell where he hit it and wasn't sure if it was a lethal hit or not. I also told him that, if i were him, I'd spend some time practicing with my bow before going back out. because if the scope is off, he can't make effective, ethical shots on game. We spent a little more time looking around where the arrow was but didn't see any blood. I'm hoping it was just a flesh wound and that the deer will be ok.
  6. Sounds like that's going to be fun to shoot! Congrats on a couple nice pick ups.
  7. I like. Is that a carbon fiber barrel on the Christensen?
  8. Hoping for a quickie before work. Mrs. Bolt said get lost, so I'm in the stand for a quickie hunt before work. C'mere deer!
  9. I tried my hand at doing my own euro last year. What a mess. Between the mess and the time involved, I'll gladly outsource the job next time.
  10. Man oh man you guys put down some serious deer in the past few days! Congrats to all who got one! I was just granted access to a small 6ish acre lot that's 5 minutes from my house. Not big, but there are deer in there. The old guy who owns it says he's missed 5 doe this year, all clean misses at under 20 yds, so he's giving up on this season. The best part? It's literally 5 minutes from my house. I'm stoked! First morning sit will be Thursday before heading in to work.
  11. Still watching that big half rack push does around. Had the release clipped for a bit. Then had a 4 pt come in to 10yds, mouth open nose to the ground
  12. Been watching A BIG 8 half rack feed toward me with a doe. From 220 to 150yds. Watched him chase out a spike. Wasnt interested in my grunt.
  13. Been in since 6. Can't get over how bright it is already. Corn is down. Today should be interesting. Tinks deployed.
  14. Not me.. damn squirrels get me every time!
  15. 50 / 50 for me also. There have been times when I hear them coming from a ways off. Other times I look around and they're right under me and I never heard them come in..
  16. Buddy of mine scored on a nice big 8pt last night in Hilton. Says his cams are blowing up with daytime activity. I'll be in all day tomorrow hoping to see something. I think the corn may have been cut last weekend, so that should help. Debating the xbow or the reg bow.
  17. Politicians may not be able to take our guns because owning them is protected by the 2A, but what good is a gun if you can't get ammo for it?
  18. Still going strong! Zucchini are done, as are tomatoes. Bell peppers, kale, brussel sprouts are going strong. Cantaloupe look good to.
  19. Should be simple. I bought mine online and had to assemble it. As long as all the parts are there you should be fine.
  20. I agree with Moog on the use of scent to attract deer. It's a shot in the dark at best. I do think that if you're using a decoy, adding scent to it could help. I may play with this idea in the future to see what happens.
  21. Bow or Gun? Bow - Both Gun - Private
