  1. I do not worry about pet oder as my cats are outside 90 % of the time.. deer dont mind them at all.. best smell like my cat if anything. As for the aple scented shampoo ..it works just like a cover scent or attractant.. that neing said my hunting clothes get washed once every 5 years wether they need it or not... the only exception was when i took a bear.. had to wash them 4 or 5 times to get rid of that smell. Honestly trying not to smell is much harder than just trying to smell like a food or another animal.. and that is much cheaper as well than trying to be scent free..
  2. Got the last little wood plot tilled today. The "glass tower " "reds' "plot has germinated and looking good so far.. mix of turnip amd radish
  3. Do the opposite . Apple scented body wash and shampoo..deer just walk in salavating....
  4. I just play the wind.. indians were adept at playing wind and close shots with weak bows yet they survived.. Todays bow can shoot very far and the wind a constant..
  5. Unless they are in food like a cornfield or apple orchard. They are hard to pattern mine come by about every 2 weeks. Hipe they hit the corn right before bow...
  6. Heavy trails are almost always doe and fawn trails the buck trails will be fainter and downwind of the heavy trails. More than likely he is bedded in thick cover and now is time to explore that area. Find an access point or point where you can get to without being noticed. .
  7. Not the way i like to see em in velvet....
  8. Spray foam no doubt. Get the kind that has anti rodent chemicals added to it.

    What to do...

These people are manicured lawn people..clover would dive them insane....lol
  10. We got a soaker rìght after i tilled. And then 3 days of showers after i planted. Heavy dew in am and being in woods these little plots will do fine. The big plots i wont plant yet as they are full sun all day. Hope to get them in just before rainband a few days of cloudy.. the cool mornings dew helps a lot with small seed.
  11. Got 4 small plots sprayed and planted on monday. Have my big 2 acre plot sprayed and will plant in about 2 weeks. Have about 1.5 acres on neighbors to get worked up this week prolly on fri. one of the small plots
  12. This is friends property . The old stand next to it was built in 2008.. he decided to replace it with this. At my place they only go in proven funnel or feed areas usually 10 years or more of deer knowledge at spot. I do not put in ground as i can simply brace and lift with forks on tractor. I have only.moved 1 ..2x now. 2x due to a new neighbor building near it and wouldnt be legal to hunt out of. And 2nd time was to get it into a better area that was more commonly hunted. Now i will do habitat work to keep deer in box blind areas but usually just to keep them closer to it as mine tend to be funnel / travel areas.
  13. Just a ft over 6 ft. Metal roof snow slides off no issues
  14. Ive only seen mature bucks together in early spring and then its debatable if they are together or only using same food source. I do see a young buck hang with a mature buck in summer
  15. Stairs , door and tin roof onn. Took about 10 hours total and he has to finish the battonboards and windows
  16. Tin type newspaper photo.. im sure it was "enhanced " as photo is over 100 years old
  17. Had a day so headed over to friends and got stand well under way..just door , roof amd stairs to do now.. hes gonna install windows and put on batton boards..

    What to do...

They own .34 of an acre everything is in sight... i have dec patrol road due to road hunters. They will see it for sure...
  20. Worse part is you can get tested and show antibodies and they wont accept natural immunity they demand the shot... feel bad for health care workers who have had covid dont want shot and are not allowed to work.... where is the follow the science now?
  21. This is actual photo early 1900s in montana a forest ranger found the body and a jammed 45 /70 as well as a large bowie knife.. they tried to figure out who it was but the locals only rememberd a french trapper who dissappeared a few years before.. I posted this a few years ago ..im sure its still on site somewhere including newspaper article the photo is from
  22. That happens a lot . The there are no deer anymore argument falls into that quite a bit... ive hunted the same stand for 30 years!! The woods evolve and change growing constantly. The brushy draw you hunted 30 years is now mature woods the deer moved to better cover... always have to explain why habitat work is so important.
  23. So i have a new nonhunting neighbor.. Seem like nice people but they have installed a salt block on my property line as they like to see the deer... i had conversation about it a few months ago when you could see it in the yard and told them it was not allowed.. they put bird feeders up as well and they were promply tore down and carried away by a bear.. they did have the salt block removed as well but now i see it reappeared when i took my new roadway into my property..... right off my line by 1 ft... smh.
  24. We do dressed weight and raised yearling bucks from average 101 lbs to 117 lbs after habitat and food plots. Even the neighbor says well there are less deer but they are bigger since you bought here...
  25. My nephew was going thru our log book and informed me i killed. 173 deer in my 34 years of hunting. 54 of which were antlered bucks.. of which i have 5 head mounts, 4 "european" the rest are skull caps. . We have a possibility of killing the 500th deer of my property since 93 season this year if we take 22 deer this year.. If you figure 35 lbs of meat on average that 8 ton of meat from the land .. he said ive taken about a 1/3 of them myself.. this is what i get for having a nephew taking accounting/ buisness at St. Bonaventure .. Any one else keep records out there..
