Yep i agree . Every year when they would post take per town. My place alone would be 10% or more of town take.. ( using their numbers) no way that should be posssible in a 5x 7 sq mile town....

Older than 4.5 are usually taken by accident . By a new hunter going to a clump in middle of field.. a walk behind neighbors house.. ect.. many simply die of old age finding a sanctuary to hide out in. Many are taken if pushed knowing or unknowingly. If found numerous skuĺls with huge pedicals died of old age most likely many never killed by a hunter ( at least not recorded in books) that we know of... I really feel there is a mature buck in everyones area.. just learned to hide well. We are pretty patternable as hunters for game.

Mine is low again 9w.. makes no sense.. oh well. Landowner tag and a few guys have pp from last year. Still have dec numbers way off.. but apparently there are no deer and they have to raise population... ill just get em with my vehicles i guess.

Its actually a landing at top of ravine they pushed all the topsoil off the logging roads onto. Ph is crappy lime every year...

Did some tilling before the rain..will hit with gly in week or so if new growth appears.. Habe neighbors 3 or 4 plots to get tilled up hopefully this week as hes all nervous about getting them in...

By me they have about 3 weeks left of growth or 6 to 10 in of tines and beam legnth depending on individual animal. Most are hardening by 2nd week august and can be hard horn by end of august.

You need a deck with food plot close to it and practice shooting in a recliner...

Only have one hen with 5 poults on july 4th and again this am in rain.. 3 hens no poults at all..

He's 4 year old from what i can tell.. perhaps we need to make a nut size / age calculator tape.

Several times.. if bachelor group is still together, even loosely you know whick bucks tend to hang with each other. See a 4 pt and spike follwed by a big 10.. it maybe the tip off that when you are sitting and the spike and 4 pt come by chances are the 10 is behind even if its 30 min later.

Summer scouting consists of locating mast soft and hard. Checking crops in nearby fields. And any large disturbances that may effect movement.. Most of my scouting in summer is done with binoculars looking up in trees to locate mast. Its nice to see bucks in velvet but summer spots maybe miles from fall and winter range. End of august sept is when i try and pattern a bachelor group for oct 1..

Thats crazy.. if record books are to honor an animal then they should be free..imo. But i agree with the article that its become a competition .. i never enter contest because i despise that.

Ive had them score a couple for me but im to cheap to spend 10 bucks to put in book...lol Joe does a fantastic job for them though. I truly belive many more large bucks are taken in ny than people realize. They just arent entered.. i know my neighbor has several that would make nysbbc hes 82 and not entering them, prolly show up in a few years as finds after the estate sale...
