Yep I buy them. I. 4 or 6 packs.. sticks can be bought cheap( unless your buying aluminum) it's the attachment that costs , 5 section stick and 6 straps.. some of my sticks are almost 20 years old on their 4 ot 5th set of straps.. they use to use ropes around a ship mooring cleat. Key is to take em down maintain them and change them straps..

Heard 7 tonight, going after one in a roost area that's been used for 20 plus years, hoping I can get fellow member here to get his 1st spring bird...

You can adapt any stick to a ratchet , you may need to buy some ,chain links if your ratchet end are to big to fit in slot or hole on sticks. It's better to have your stand in a tree to get a deer that you might see , than one to see deer that you only may get......

No straps are usually 4 ft, you can buy longer straps (check weight limits) good luck Ps. I replace all of the pull lock straps with ratchet style on all my sticks and stands, you can get them tighter for a little more cost.. who want to be on a wobbly stick 24 ft In the air

Not an entry but a good hunt.Last weekend I went turkey hunting for the first time. My uncle Al and I spent the night at Mr Greg's house. He had alot of antlers on the wall and even a bear! The next morning I was woken up by my uncle saying he broke my glasses. We fixed them with glue, tape, and a rubberband. I thought I put them away before I went to bed. I got ready by putting on my hunting gear, and out the door we went. It was hard not stepping on any sticks on the way to out hunting spot. It was hard because it was dark. While watching the sun rise learned that turkeys fly!! I had only seen a wild turkey one other time . They were in a cage at a fishing derby that my uncle Al took me to. They just had a large stick to climb on and didn't fly. Anyways, while I was watching the sunrise, I noticed that there was a turkey in the tree in front of us..he flew into the tree after only one call. Greg was in against the tree behind us calling the birds. After he stopped calling,a hen almost landed IN My LAP! There was another one that I was waiting to shoot but my uncle thought it was probably too far away for me.. All together we had a really fantastic hunt even though I didn't get a bird. We saw an adult turkey , and saw and heard a few gobblers. I even saw a Jake with a weird middle feather that stuck up in the center. Although the hunt was long, cold and a little boring..i enjoyed hunting with my uncle Al and Mr Greg. -olivia hirschbine

now is your chance to tell D.E.C. WHATS WRONG WITH DEER MANAGEMENT
G-Man replied to hunterman7956's topic in Deer Hunting
I'm really quite content with deer management... I would.like to see crossbow in all of archery, and a return to monday gun opener.. was more of a camp experiance then guys would cone out fri, we'd go visit camps or head into town , do the same on sat along with some camp chores.. sunday relax at camp , big dinner and early to bed.. that comroderie is missed by today's hunters, not to mention economic loss to all the small towns ... -
So Cruz picks his vp canidates when he is mathmatically out of rece, is he that cock or is a devious plan to draw votes away from trump by luring women voters so he can force a contested convention in cleveland..????

You just have to give her incentive like she can get any boy she wants if she hunt....lol

Personally I would try and find them roosting or a bird roosting..if no luck I'd sit there and wait. but 1.5 hours after.fly down a bird can go a very long way... miles...
-
I have about 75 percent success the next morning if I can roost bird night before.. key is tonreally.listen and not over call to shock them ,locator calls only, and sparingly
-
May work good if you have a caller sitting under you. But most treestands are set.for.deer hunting and you can see 100 yards or.so..so then can the turkeys as well..
-
I'll roost sat evening. Though I'm sure they will be in their normal roost areas. I can narrow it down to 50 yards or so roosting the night before instead of 100 to 150 yards.

I don't have dogs of my own, never needed them, the stocked birds at darien lake were easy to walk up on the few times i went for phesant (that was 20 years ago and part of the main reason i decided to try my experiment here). But my friend uses Brittney spaniels they are well trained and fun to hunt with. I still won't get dogs as I do not have the time to give them that they need due to work.
