  1. Hope those that saw it enjoyed it..was good show!!
  2. I think you can view link as a guest ,dont.hold.me.to it though.
  3. I believe so as it will be on facebook
  4. Porcupine, after the copper salts used to preserve it. , could also be a raccoon who wanted a bigger hole to go through to get to someplace ( food or a woman)
  5. You would enjoy this, brian takes great pride in playing and his singing. Has the best local metal band around. If they all weren't over 50 they would play out more but when they do it's an experience. Many people have been bugging him for a live concert ,he finially obliged
  6. If you like Chris Cornell ( from soundgarden and audioslave) my friend will be covering his songs tonight 730 pm. Friends, fans, common spectators and/or detractors - looks like tomorrow night (Monday, May 18th) @7:30pm I will be going live on here with the help of my friend / fellow musician / sound engineer / technical advisor / fellow beer connoisseur and videographer Mark Raecher. Please feel free to grab some cocktails, get FB streaming to your TV or surround sound, sit back and relax as I pay tribute to, and celebrate the life of, one of our generations' biggest talents, Chris Cornell. Feel free to share this with anyone you think would appreciate it. Hope to see you then! Cheers! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3157674490943304&id=100001023512759&sfnsn=mo.

  8. Agree with pygmy, was always told few soft calls and then shut up to you know hes on ground.. then soft purrs and clucks and wait. Unfortunately the days of running and gunning to find active bird are well behind us, with so many active predators bird go quiet but still come . Or will go to where they are comfortable and sound off. The new normal is getting very close when on roost , which may entail going in middle of day and clearing trail of leaves and debris so you can get under 70 yards quietly in the dark, and learning where the sound off on the ground and head there and wait in ambush. Many hear birds 100 yards or so and bird leaves , my suggestion is to sneak to where it was and call it was comfortable there and may come back if it believes a hen was left behind
  9. Before range finders I'd measure out and paint numbers on trees 1, 2 ,3 ,4 for 10, 20 ,30, 40 yards 20 plus years later some are still visible
  10. No it was at.my.place a buck on my. Birthday open roadway. Have taken several deer at 40 to 50 with vertical bow. All on logging roads/ field edge . Practice 40 and 50 yard shots , dont really.bother with anything under 30 as pins are set. And my last pin is 65. Crossbow bolts drop kinetic energy faster than an arrow as weight is less. Once pins are set it simply.knowing the range. The hardest part of hunting imo. No matter what you are using.. seen many people sight in rifles at 200 yards shoot right over deer at 25 .. sight in and practice at expected ranges. Then long shots are practiced and the close become gimme..
  11. Where you decide to hunt and how has it's own set of advantages or disadvantages. I do not like to see deer coming rather depending on hearing and when they are in view they are well within range.. a rest in a a hang on is not likely so again disadvantage to holding crossbow .. they both have their advantage and flaws but are essentially the same . Trigger , scope or sights , and approximately same fps at reasonable ranges.. I have taken deer art 65 with compound and 50 with x bow. So. Range is similar. The argument about drawing is near moot if you can draw and hold as.long as you want with 80% or more let off. It simply becomes a matter of choice when to move and release with either.
  12. Well I remembered my nephews bear paws I buried 2 years ago , dug them up and found most if them should of dug them out last year..oh well been working on claws to make into keychain or necklaces.
  13. I've never spooked a deer drawing ,I shoot light poundage and draw when its behind tree or looking dead away, having used both, the bow is lighter more maneuverable, while x bow lacks draw. Is heavier and less maneuverable ( I have some stands you cant use one in as the vertical trunks are to close together and to close, that's it. Aiming is the same , if you guess range wrong or hit a limb the results are the same .
  14. I still have my mq32 and used it as a back up a few seasons ago when I had limb delamination on new one, they wanted to put 70 lbs limbs on so I could still hunt I said no I'll wait for 60lbs I have a good back up.. picked it up was right on, one those sight are set and kisser button it's just like a rifle pick it up and can kill something with it 1st shot.. that is the biggest thing I've seen , no real need to practice 100s of arrows with a compound unlike a stick or recurve.. people wont admit it but compound with all the accessories and high let off is pretty much a x bow in ease of shooting.
  15. Single cam easier to adjust but ,cannot get max speed from one. I buy a new bow when the technology changes enough to warrent it.. so it was 87 a pse from bowhunters wearhouse 89 a ,a used oneida strike eagle, 99 matherws mq 32, 2007 a mathews outback. Havent seen anything advanced to make me need to get new bow.
  16. I dont see much advancement with the exception of materials used. Watched single cam rise and fall, magnesium handles, machined aluminum. I do not see vertical bows going away even if crossbow comes in whole season. Many of my friends in ohio have and use both, and have for years.
  17. You lay fan spread out on big piece of paper/ card board. Then. Pull all the feathers. The main tail feathers start from outside and overlap in to center, the next set start in center and work out . Simply clean the pulled feathers from oil using alcohol/ dawn dish soap Then hot glue them to fender washer using your outline as guide to position. Add another fender washer and repeat using next row of feather and then the last set(back/ small tail feathers.. I found using a arc shaped piece of cardboard between layers adds some depth and separation similar to meat on a real bird and adding fender washer to it ( lining up the holes for a screw to attach to board) the either cover last washer and screw with feather or tack leather or anything you want over it base of fan. Takes about 40 min from start to finish, never rots and is ready for your wall in under an hour if you have plack or screw to wall in garage directly.
  18. Got up early as usual, tweety birds are singing their hearts out today, earl 515 am waiting to hear 1st gobble from the hottub......
  19. Best part is there is no meat at all, just fender washers and hot glue. ..
  20. Ties were chestnut and elm.. on old beds , then turned to hemlock later
  21. Well finially got garden started got my sweet peas and cucumbers in the ground before the rain, hop.to get sweet corn in this weekend. Along with beans and peppers and potatoes, summer squash. winter squash and pumpkin in a couple of weeks.
