    Beer

Well not beer but better rum buckets!
  2. Need you to help.me make stairs for the glass tower...
  3. I scout year round, a lot in june and july.with binoculars looking for soft and hard mast on the trees, I've owned this land since 93 and know it very well.but , crops and mast effect exact placements. Deadfalls from storms, logging , new neighbors , also factor in. I have a lot of stands to hang and trim so by mid july.i start and get a couple up a week. Trimming shooting lanes takes the longest time and is much easier with 2 people.
  4. I usually get my stands hung in july, so getting them out of the barn and safety testing them.. this is by no means a scientific test , but I strap them 6inches off ground and have my fat self jump on them. Replace bad cables ,worn straps, hit the steel ones with sandpaper and some paint if need be,repair seats, ect. A little maintenance goes a long way, I have many old stands from api and loggy bayou that are from the early 90s. Still in great shape. ( aluminum) of course straps and cables have been replaced as needed. Having 36 plus stands is an accumulation over the years and it is a chore taking them down and putting back up. But it's an important step many unfortunately do not do.. take the time to do a little test yourself and repair , the life you save could be your own or a friend or family members.
  5. If an old man wearing flannel and Jean's with rough hand tells you anything ,listen. They been there and done that... oldtimers knew more ways to kill things than I ever thought possible..
  6. Eggs are sticky and stick. To feathers and feet. Most northern lakes in canada were not stocked by man. They were created by glaciers and would all be sterile if not for natural processes of moving plants, and animals. Clams, snails all are moved by birds as well
  7. I try , I like diversity attracts all kind of critters.. have a small timber sale coming up, forester marking trees next week. . Mostly maple and hickory.. property was so higraded when I bought it, constant work to get it back like it should be.
  8. Plus if your using pure copper bullets in the woods hunting any tree you leave a bullet in from pass thru or miss will die. Copper kills trees , a 1in piece of 1/2 in copper pipe or copper nail kills them deader than a door nail, ( works good on trees on your line you neighbor owns but refuses to trim. Pound into a root and few years tree is dead.. he/she then removes it and your good )
  9. I raised fry of walleye in it before and very young koi years ago, but it was always primarily just a bait pond. I've pumped it out a few times since it was built in 97 to net out what I had in there to restock my large pond. The main use is throwing a minnow trap in it for an hour and using the minnows and crabs to go fishing with.. nothing beats live bait imo.
  10. They may be some at.consignment auctions.. I havent seen any for.sale local. Maybe try fb marketplace..
  11. This pond is 10 ft still, and I've drained it 2x before when i used it to raise walleye. Next time it will prolly be dug out again in 5 years or so .
  12. I have bass , walleye, crappie, perch, trout, blue catfish , and koi in my big pond, just need bait to fish the big one , so I have 2 bait ponds this one was wiped out due to bass fry washing in during flood.. so now it's got a fresh start again as fathead and crayfish producing bait... dont want to buy when you can raise it yourself..
  13. Gun range ,can shoot here to 150 yards , I can go to 250 yard at back of.pond dike. Any caliber . I've had a friend shoot a cannon at.it as well. Bow / x bow range to 65 yards from Elevated 10 ft deck.
  14. Bass were the problem as well as a few crappie but I caught them out.. , it's just a pond I use for bait, fathead minnows, crawfish. The snail are very good for a pond , eat down algae, weeds, and filter water like clams. They give live birth and minnows eat the young . Friend wanted them for her pond as she has algae problem they normally go for 25 cents apiece at fish pet store and they keep glass clear on aquariums.
  15. They can with probable cause, fly.over with drone or helicopter, seeing suspicious activity. And yes emergency as well. If they didnt have right to do this then all.the fields of weed growing behind the barn would be untouchable. Tips that can be confirmed visually. Seeing deer hanging in tree behind house minus tags.. ect.. suspicious activity like running a still..
  16. Several years ago we had a flood and I had fry wash into my bait pond.. finally after trying to catch the invaders out after all the minnow and crab were gone I decided enough was enough, I decided to drain and remove all. Took a couple of 2 in pumps and a nice day and 6 hours but got it down to nothing. Had a friend come over who helped and we netted it 2x when it was a foot deep and she took the fish and a 5 gallon pail of trapdoor snails for her pond. Surprisingly there were quite a few crayfish left as well. 7 years after the incident it refilled, restocked and fatheads are reproducing quickly again. frog was temporarily displaced. Lot of Snails to be removed.four decent sized bass.., the round looking stones are all trapdoor snailsabout empty.those are all snails..18 bass fingerlings to remove.
  17. Just about done, need to trim out windows, and a little sealing hear and there, trim shooting lanes. And it will be..
  18. Another couple of days and they will be able to fly , up survivability by a large percent, dry spring is helping hatch no doubt
  19. Went Out looking with a friend today.. Some chicken of the woods..already made dinner so maybe lunch tomorrow .. cut into strips breaded fried and dipped in ranch..
  20. Works fine for well over 20 years.
  21. They do make it easy to remove legs and.move if need be. I've done it to 2 different blinds ,moving uppers with a tractor after removing legs. Would of been very top heavy with loader way up in air. . Yes you could unlag legs from frame as well but I just leave mine in socket so they slide off easy , yes need to brace legs either way. .
  22. I finally watched a video on tree saddles and I've been hunting like that out of treestand for years. Use a old waist belt safety harness. Just need a fold up.seat on your hang on stand. Never cared for new safety harnesses that confine the way you move attaching high,( yes I know the safety factor) I also use rectangular stands the have corners close to trees so you can get close and look around trunk. Seems logical step in hunting but I'm still not.fan of climbing linemans style.

I find it funny that everyone that said he's a sellout or whatever must watch his show..or have at some point. Have 3 channels and I usually w and the old VHS tapes from the 80s and 90s where they are trying to teach you something not entertain. Don't really care who sponsors who or if they switch companies or leave them ,I think Michael waddle was a primos guy for many years..left for more money on his own..guess he sold out as well.. unfortunately it's a business now for most hosts. I only.warch 1 hunting show and only.because its local.amd.i. know many of the kids on it through their parents, and that is CRCS outdoors.. school kids hunting, New Zealand, charter fishing on lake Ontario, hunting local private and state land. The host is the local science teacher. It's not high quality nor trophy hunting by any means but I find it enjoyable. They have sponsors but nothing like the professionals..
  24. It may not mature in time for season , depends on. How many day corn and growing degree days.. 85 day corn is 85 days from emerging till mature but that is not dry. Silage for cattle.. to. Reach black tip may take 80 or more growing degree days. After kernels are full. We need rain ,mine is up 4 to 6 inches and stopped , fortunately it's been very dewy in am So they are getting some water.. never a fan of planting corn in june as I can have frost by end of sept. And I want dry dented corn for season
  25. My main plots are corn for after season, brassica second , and ww or winter rye seeded with clover . Main focus is on food for after season and next years growth,, my stands are set in travel corridors. Not a fan of kill plot hunting . Going to plow about half an acre tomorrow for neighbors fall ,radish ,and July buckwheat.
