Some guns just prefer a dirty barrel. I have a couple that I fire a light load before I load a hunting round, you just need to fire and clean it more when hunting multiple. Days.. To much powder is often a problem . You should hear a distinct sharp crack when you have a proper load , 5 grains extra is sometimes to much and will open a group up . Do not worry about max load for the gun if it shoots awesome at 85 grains then shoot 85. Too many times I've seen people shoot max loads.. and have accuracy problems.. my uncle was shooting 150 grains cause that was max for his gun , and could not hit a pie plate, dropped to 115 and it's a tack driver...

Some more oysters need a day or two still.

Yep I agree larry , I'd rather go after something I cant get in ny. Antelope, mule deer ,elk. I have friends in iowa, missouri and ohio and pa most come to ny to hunt for we have numbers . We compare trail cam.photos and bucks are about the same year to year.
-
Ohio has far fewer hunters than pa ( hunters per square mile) , that is biggest difference. 400k vs 1.1 million.. less pressure bigger deer ,same reason for midwest harvests. Less hunters per acre.

Tired of being called racist..
G-Man posted a topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Sick of being called racist , perhaps people are uneducated. There is a difference between prejudice and racism. 99% experience prejudice not racism. These riots are creating more prejudice imo. Those that believe that white privilege exists believe the whites are better. That in fact is racist. Are minorities profiled by police yes, by rural citizens probably, the best way to stop prejudice is to show those that have it it is unfounded and everyone is an individual. I have experienced prejudice as a hunter and I'm sure many of you have as well. I experienced it in philly as I was lost and pulled over by a black officer in east Philadelphia and he simply told me either your lost or looking for drugs or a hooker.. I was lost on wrong side of the river. I have only seen racism on documentaries on the kkk and ww2. And a few funny skits on Dave Chappelle show, and Saturday night live. Sorry for the vent but I hope many others feel the same way. -
Less than an hour for sure, doe would of licked it clean at birth and eaten placenta, not raining would of been dry quickly.

So if the mob comes to your street or town, what do yo do?
G-Man replied to ApexerER's topic in General Chit Chat
Well if they could actually find me and make it up the hill, I would be sitting on the porch with a few hand guns , and rifles, just inside would be more arms . Then a few swords I own. I may not get them all but many many many would go down with me. Bonus living in middle of nowhere i shoot a lot and do not miss much. My house was designed where I can fight room to room if need be. -

Ozone is way to go. Salt is still a pain adding it. But keep on mind ozone dissolves everything , tubing it flows thru will need to be replaced every few years. Keeping balanced all depends on how much soap and softener you and your friends have in you suits and on you. I have one friend that has so much soap/softener residue in his suit that when he and his fiance come over it's a damn bubble bath takes me two days to get it back under control. Now I make them.rinse off suits before hot tubbing. Hot spring is way to go very good warrenty

Depends on where you are placing them and how.many photos it takes and time between photos. I have cameras set on 1 sec delay and have several that will have 2500 photos plus a week, I use 16gig cards and sometimes they are full especially if I am taking 18meg photos. Sensitivity also is a factor. A flock of turkey will burn up a lot of photos in a hurry so will deer if they bed in front of a camera, squirrels and my newest nemesis rabbits!!

A few years ago I attended a workshop at hanging bog on creating habitat for grouse. Early succesional habitat creation was at its core. Block clear cutting, and aspen management were highly stressed . Grouse use Aspen as a main food source for most of the year winter and spring, with apple ,and others used in fall. Accessibility to buds is priority. As aspen mature they grow out of reach of grouse and deer , many of you have heard how a deer need food access from 0 to 8ft and think yep I plant food plots.... grouse are not plot eaters so having similar needs from 0 to 15 ft or so you need to create food. The bonus of managing for grouse is it also puts all the same preferred food in the browse area for deer ( bonus 2 for one) Cutting large Aspen close to the ground will cause them to clone from their root systems, rapid vigorous regrowth will result in a boom of easily accessible food for both game species( you can include rabbit here as well) I could write pages on this but I have found the study they printed out for us on line. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://dspace.sunyconnect.suny.edu/bitstream/handle/1951/69797/0-Assessing_the_Quality_of_Ruffed_Grouse_.pdf%3Fsequence%3D2%26isAllowed%3Dy&ved=2ahUKEwj3-rDt3dPpAhWtknIEHTO9DWkQFjABegQIDRAI&usg=AOvVaw0uKEUzwhcbJXOZr6yYLHfd Grouse are threatened and we may lose them as a game species if not helped. Before you cut and create a foodplot you may want to consider creating grouse habitat as it works for all game.species , deer, turkey, rabbit, grouse, songbirds, woodcock ,and numerous other species. Remember deer are browsers 1st not grazers , food plots are nice but natural early succesional habitat plays a vital role ,by simply adding a few conifers, and soft and hard mast trees/shrubs to an Aspen cut you create and benefit so many more species, it will be thick and guarentee you will see an increase in all game on your property, much more rapidly than with a simple food plot source.

New plot clearing for neighbor
G-Man replied to G-Man's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
The neighbor is huge turkey hunter and has been on cover of hunting mags with his dogs for.fall birds. He hunts multiple states and his primary.goal is turkey. Turkey love buckwheat seed as do deer.. . Every plot has it's own purpose and one persons goals are not another's. Most plots are "kill " plots.. personally I like feed fields that provide nutrition over multiple smaller kill plots. But my goal is herd health not harvest.
