After paying my neighbor/taxi, who subbed the job out to a butcher acquaintance, and getting back product of dubious quality, I decided it would be a very useful skill to learn how to do myself. So, back in the early '80s, I acquired a VHS tape of Leonard LaRue boning out, seperating and wrapping individual whole muscles from the entire deer, after Peter Fiduccia, (not a fan), rattles in and kills a buck. If you can find a CD copy, I would highly recommend the butchering segment. Just forward past Fiduccia's hunting sequence.

So what did you spend on a deer mount this past season?

2020 Muley was $680 delivered from Wyoming to Florida. -
I often don't agree with Grouse's point of view, but this is one time I absolutely do. My wife is a liberal and we have differing opinions on a lot of social issues. But that's fine by both of us. We can have intelligent discussion, ( sometimes warmly debated), on a subject and, while not in agreement, can respect each other's position. Her sister, on the other hand, is a leftist. In her eyes, there is only one way to see an issue, and that is the lock step leftist way. Sometimes, I think she'd sooner see me dead than have me thinking alternative thoughts. No, I don't believe there is a moral obligation to get the vaccine.

What Are Your Goals for the 2021 Season?
eaglemountainman replied to Splitear's topic in General Hunting
This. Plus, thoroughly enjoying myself on my Wyoming muley trip again this year. I have such a blast out there every year! It's not essential that I top, or even equal, my buck from last year...just love that spot and stalk style of hunting. -
I do own some Kryptek Highlander pieces and wear it occasionally. Mostly though, I wear a plaid shirt/jac or my Woolrich Buffalo plaid wool coat with old Carhartt canvas or Filson Tincloth pants. I manage to hang meat now and then. I am a believer in snow camo.

Yes, look at his brow tines. In both sets of photos it looks like his left brow rides just a titch higher on the main beam than the right.

Yep. I think that's part of why I got played. I've always thought of this site as all sunshine and buttercups, and never expected that kind of shit from the good fellows that play here. I let my guard down and paid for it. My feelings sting more than my wallet.

Seems like a good idea, but guys like this probably have a wallet full of phony licenses.

Yeah, I saw that 10 post count the day after I sent the funds. That was my uh oh moment. I was 95% sure then that the pooch was screwed.

Ha! I just did what luberhill did. I Googled RCBS Rock Chucker and went to images...and guess what I found. It was sold on Shooter's supply in Jan. of 2020. And this guy even used the product description, word for word, and the original seller's first name!!! Ya know what, if he needs to pull sh*t like that, he needs it worse than me. But Karma, ah Karma,..... she's a beautiful thing.

Hmm. I got tagged on here last week by a scammer. First time ever, and I feel like a fool. I had a guy reply to a post I made looking for an RCBS Rock Chucker. He emailed me photos, and we made a deal. He said he'd like to be paid with Zelle. I sent funds and haven't heard from him since. I've emailed, texted and called him...nothing. I even thanked him on a subsequent post after we made the deal!!!! Oh well, lesson learned. I always thought Zelle offered protections. Like I said, I've never been played before. It won't happen again. At least I'm only out 120 bucks. It could have been a lot worse. Beware, his tag here was Keeney143, though I'm sure he doesn't use the same tag twice. I wonder if he's the same guy... EDIT: So, I'm still looking for a Rock Chucker press in good shape.

Delaware County Club looking For A Few New Members
eaglemountainman replied to eaglemountainman's topic in Deer Hunting
Sorry James, membership is full at this time. We took on three new members two years ago and they have been working out very well. One guy even bought in as a full share permanent member. -
I have a question pertaining to selling firearms and ammo.
eaglemountainman replied to 13BVET's topic in General Chit Chat
I would be very interested in a list of what you have. -
Well, the weather here has been pretty nice, and yet... Last couple of days, I've won some auctions for an RCBS Uniflo powder measure with stand and an RCBS 5-10 scale. Also made a deal with a member here for a Rock Chucker press. Thanks, keeney143! All are vintage and in pristine condition. I spent a bit of money, but saved a bunch also, and got better quality than the chinese crap. Still researching and shopping for a case trimming system and a hand primer, along with some misc hand tools and other bits. Then, finding consumables will be the tricky part. Been wanting to get back into handloading for a few years now. Finally decided to make it happen, though my timing could have been a whole lot better...

WTB RCBS reloading Equipment
eaglemountainman posted a topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Looking to get back into reloading and searching for vintage RCBS equipment... pre Chinese crap. For now, specifically looking for a Rock Chucker press, an Ohaus 10-10 scale, powder measure and case trimmer. A bundle would be great, though a piece at a time works also. Thanks. -
Pond goin in on the zeeks homestead
eaglemountainman replied to Gencountyzeek's topic in General Chit Chat
Looks like a nice size and depth. Will yours have a berm/dyke all around it, like your neighbor's, to keep pesticides and fertilizer from the ag field out? -
It's Been Too Long........Loading some 7mm-08 TTSX 120gr
eaglemountainman replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Reloading
My 7-08s and 260Rem both shoot Barnes 120 TTSX factory ammo, consistently, just under an inch. No need to reload, though I have been wanting to get back into it for years now. Been looking for replacement equip for the last year or so, since I had to ditch my original stuff when I separated from my first wife. It's either nonexistent, or sellers are very proud of what they have. Yep, same feeling as catching a 26" Brown or Rainbow on a size 20 dry that you tied yourself. -
Advice on Sighting In
eaglemountainman replied to Splitear's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have my dad's in 35 Rem and my grandpa's in 300 Sav. Both are 5 diamond guns produced in the late '50s. I'm sure there are a few out there, but I've never met one that couldn't shoot little groups. Good luck with yours. For the yardages you stated, your set up is perfectly dialed in. -

Put the caps back on the scope and go hunting. You're done. What model Remington is it? 760? -
Yep. Muley tag. I decided to hold off on antelope app till next year. Did you draw?

I was a young man when I started making these donations 33 years ago. Hopefully I'll pull a Wyoming Mule Deer tag this Thursday.
