I see what your posting . Last year was hot didn't have any snow and rut was earlier. Year before that we had snow storms 1st afternoon and high winds. Cross bow will go up to until anybody that wants to is in it then it will level off and go down like the rest as population stops or doesn't care to hunt any more. Same thing happened in PA. Good hunters will kill deer. A crossbow wont make a poor hunter better. And as we know it's not a rifle so it won be the magic cure for poor hunters . Might make it easier for them to get lucky .

Still have muzzloader/crossbow season -
I have 75000miles on my truck. When my truck acted up the gear indicator dropped to 1 and mph went to zero as well as rpms. After a few seconds I guess , the rpms and mph came back and transmission jumped back to 3 rd. Not real sure I was a little busy the first time it happened. Honestly felt like I had slammed it in park . Tires squealing .. or was that me screaming

How many deer do you think are on your property?
Nytracker replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
On camera I can identify 4 different does one with yearlings and 3 bucks that are regulars. I have 5 different bucks that show up every week or so and 3 different that are on camera maybe once or twice in 4 months so I would say.9 that use my 30 acres regularly. Now you have to remove 2 does and one buck so I'm going to make an educated guess of 6. -
I am betting those numbers are going to be low compared to this years reports. A lot of deer killed this year compared to last year... I know I'm doing my best to move them up.

Good news I do have 100000 warranty. Still can't even look at it until Monday they are getting me a loaner. My truck is a 2013.

At 4 am meeting family. For a day of deer drives. Getting on the highway at 65 mph my truck decides to shift from 5th to 1st gear . Rear end locked up skid from lane to lane. Truck started rocking as I tried to keep from hitting or being hit by 2 tractor trailers.coming from behind. Drove off into median.. checked my drawers proceeded to drive back up on highway and limp to next exit. Happened 3 more times but I was going 30 mph. No hunting for me . So here I sit at the ford garage waiting for somebody to make a decision what to do... nothing until Monday. Might be able to get a loaner as it's not under warranty. If any of you that have a 2006 too 2016 ford f 150 ist a speed sencer issue. Looked on line and it's a problem but only recalled in 2011 and 2012 models f 150 and like SUV. It's very dangerous and can and will happen with no warning . I had no problems before this morning. Please don't make this a ford bashing thread... I have had more than my share of problems with Chevy and dodge . This is just a sincere safety warning.

What are your Land projects for 2019
Nytracker replied to land 1's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I will be happy just to get up on my property and brush hog. So wet last year couldn't do a thing . Ran chainsaw quite a bit clearing trees that went down in storms but didn't make any food plots and didn't plant a thing. Still had the best deer season in a couple years. -
What ever you get .. get a rod tube . Break it down and use the damn tube every time you put it in the car. We all break rods accidents.happen . But most decent rods start in hundreds it hurts to break a tip off and there is no real repair that can make a flyy rod whole.

Oh lord ... run .. it starts with one then next thing you know its 26 or so .. fly tying gear.... rod building... Stockies I would go with a fast 5 wt fly rod . Faster rods will make it easier to cover minor mistakes in casting. Weight forward taper or double taper line. Natives .. brookies fish up to 16 inches or so 3 or 4 wt at 8 foot or so. Finger lakes lake run bows 6 or 7 wt fly rod 9 or 10 ft Steelhead I like an 8 wt 9 or 10 footer. Check out a local TU chapter they usually have a class or two for beginners. I think its Seth Green chapter up that way. Usually people will mentor a person for a few trips. Hold on to your wallet and enjoy.

The longer this thread goes on the content blurs yet the intentions and lines become clearer.

I do over 30 years I have killed or could have. I use to take the spent shells and hang them on the branches. Think at one point i counted 17 . Then they all disappeared. Following year I found out the neighbors and grandkids were up there berry picking and cleaned up all my shells.I use to call it my brennecki tree.

Nice ... them there those new fangled snagging beads?
-
Guess its mucks and bibs . Don't like wet feet. Doesn't look like I will need a heavy parka . Thanks.

I am supposed to hunt with some friends up in 8 n . We have no snow down here in 8w . Was wondering if I needed snow gear and mucks or loggers? Guess we are going Saturday and Sunday.

Hmmm sounds like the same argument in the 70s. A bow is wood ... gut string cedar arrows feathers and a hand sharpened broad head. Glove or finger tab.. no sights.

Sorry for your loss

Too cool ! I have only ever seen one once when I was a kid 40 some years ago. Gramps cut down a rotten old oak tree.
