Joan Wulff was a phenomenal caster . Watched her give casting lessons at the Cattskill museum . She use to be a competition caster back in the 50s. She could cast an entire fly line with no effort. She commented that with modern graphite rods it was way easier than back in the day with glass and bamboo .

Fishing the west branch for the first time in many years I was amazed how matted the stream bed was with rock snot . Most places you couldn't even feel the rocks .. My nephew even commented how greasy it felt . Yesterday morning while unloading fishing stuff I noticed a light brown film on my boots and waders . I always rinse my waders and boots let dry before storing . I use to have a second pair of waders I used in the Delaware system . So I use to just rinse dry and store . I recall bleach ... one cap for a gallon of water was the preferred mix for cleaning /killing rock snot . Dry thoroughly. My wader care instructions says no bleach products . So what are the guys fishing the west branch using on your boots before fishing different non contaminated waters .

My garden went in Saturday. It's been heavily stressed with cold and wind . Plants weren't real healthy do to being root bound in the little cups . Hopefully we get a few days of sun and little wind . As of now I dont see any new growth and leaves are yellowing.

So if the mob comes to your street or town, what do yo do?
Nytracker replied to ApexerER's topic in General Chit Chat
I am a 2nd amendment guy . I would do what it takes to defend me or mine . I use to have similar ideas of what I would do in certain situations . As a responsible gun owner one should research the laws governing self defence . Defence of property . In the end it will be decided by a jury of your peers. This day and age I dont think I would trust my so called peers. That's criminal court .... civil court is worse from what I understand . You can win in criminal court and lose everything in civil court . I'm not saying anybody's opinion is wrong . Everybody has to do what they believe is right. Remember everything you say and do long before and after will be scrutinized including social media posts. For what it's worth.. You may believe the truth is on your side . It's the police job to get information... to make the case . It's the DA job to take all the information to court to prosecute. In that case ... the word lawyer in the beginning is the smartest move . Never make the mistake to believe the police are on your side. -
Looks like I have the first addition of that book .

Yes . Took the road all the way out past the stone works to the boat launch.

Thanks for the info chef . Put us on alot of fish . Popped nephew's cherry . He had never gotten a fish on the wet branch. He took a float trip his senior year and didn't hook up . He went at them with a vengeance.. there was alot of fish with sore lips last night.

So my fishing report. Nephew crushed it on beaverkill sunday night . 18 browns . All on march browns . When I left at 430 am I had 35 and a very light frost at home Monday morning. Met nephew 7 am Monday in Roscoe. Was a chilly morning . .Loaded up his stuff in the truck and headed to upper Willow in search of brookies. Picked up a couple small browns . No brook trout ... very disappointed. Stopped at Detty shop in Livingston Manner to pick some stuff I had ordered . Curb side delivery. Grabbed a sub from Pecks Market for lunch . I can honestly say they make one of the best sandwiches I have ever had . Fishing the Beaverkill by 11:30. An hour of fishing and steady hatch of march browns and caddis no rises . Watched a fish working some thing sub surface . Put on a march brown nymph under stimulator. And a decent brown crushed the stimulator . While attempting to climb rocky bank blew out my wading boot . 10 plus years on the chotas I guess I got my money's worth. Off to the beaverkill angler shop . $600 bucks later I'm back in bussiness with new waders and wading boots. Back on the Beaverkill around Cook's Falls . Sparodic rises full blown green drake hatch the likes I have never seen before . Picked up a couple fish each . Wind was brutal . By this time . Cumming down the river like a wind tunnel. Back in the truck and headed to the west branch . Found the spot just south of Deposit where there is a boat launch. Indian Country ? Water was very flat just a few caddis . No rises. Nephew jumps right in and starts fishing away . An hour later and no fish he wades to shore pretty bummed. About half hour later it starts. Tiny little dimples start appearing . I watch for a little while and study the rise forms . Nephew says they are chubs or tiny trout . Tell him we should give it a go . Wade into that freezing cold water I notice a ton of spinners dead on the water . I watch for a minute and see nothing hatching . Decide to put on a rusty spinner . 2 and cast and its game on . I hit into a 14 inch dandy brown . I honestly lost count of the numbers . Nephew had a great time . I quit about 8:30. Nephew fished for another 45 minutes. Hit the road for drive home . Pulled in the drive way at 11:00 pm.

My garden is in ... as of yesterday . Now it's all covered up as they keep dropping over night temp predictions . Now its 40 and we usually are 3 to 5 degrees lower as my house sits in a bowl . Not taking chance of frost .
-
Guess I missed something.
-
They have a real hard time recruiting these days . Alot of people cant pass the backgrounds and mental.
-
Correct sorry ... it's a stimulator with a nymph tied to the shank on a lighter leader. Stimulator is dry ... nymph hangs down in the water 18 inches or so .
-
Nephew is on the board with 8 ,fishing a march brown nymph over a yellow stimulator 2 on the stimulator. BIL has 3 on the nymph
-
That looks like a dun green drake .... looking like the game is on ...
-
They apparently drove through a heck of a spinner fall down on the beaverkill.
