  1. He gets a pass he has some great potential for next year. A little more satisfying passing him only to harvest him later on.
  2. Some of the flock from this fall. Seems about average for my area.
  3. Nice find Zag. That’s a good omen. Buck came back to his core area to die. Perhaps clean him up and display 1st buck of the property.
  4. Just six does and fawns come out and tall 6 pt came out behind them and chase them out of the field my guess is one of those does or fawns is coming into heat
  5. Little 7 pt just came out to feed in the radishes by himself
  6. Little snow cover and colder this morning should get them up today. We shall see
  7. Rain and wind snow mix whipping here in 7F usually not conditions where I see many but beats sitting on the couch and I had the day off from work so pitch when given the ball
  8. Gotta little 6 pt out pushing does this morning. Seeing a lot of movement early.
  9. Nice pic and story Red. Good times and a lot less crowded than I remember when I took my family. Enjoy the trip
  10. I am not far from you but would recommend you ask around knock on doors look at tax maps and find out who owns what you’re interested in and reach out to the owner to see if they’re willing to sell some or all of the property you’re interested in Hunt stand is a software service for hunters that provides parcel information and owners of the parcel you have to pay for that service but you could do this for free if you look at county tax maps or town tax maps I know of a 275acre property that is changing hands now just because the people who have been using /leasing it were able to convince the seller to sell to them that property never was listed with a realtor nor did anybody else bid on it or make them an offer often it’s neighbors buying from neighbors but you have to get out and ask who is looking to get out put the word out you have $ for land You might also look for in the tax rolls and find absentee owners yes taxes are paid and there might be insurance on the property but the owner lives in another state and doesn’t really use the property. You can find out the assessed value you can find out the taxes the owner usually their address google them contact them and see if they’re interested in selling or leasing with the option to buy. Pay attention to things like divorces and deaths they often bring about changing folks assets often land. Had a buddy lose 45 acres of prime hunting property not far from you in a divorce. Had another friend pass away young and his wife sold his hunting land for a fraction of what it was worth because she needed the money both sad situations but things to pay attention to especially out in the country Good luck real estate is booming but there are deals to be found if you know where to look
  11. Settled in for doe patrol. Good hunting to all still in pursuit
  12. My daughter ordered this book last night on Amazon After I mentioned it at the dinner table I guess I’m getting a new Christmas present thanks guys can’t wait
  13. That’s a slob huge neck big racked. Wowsa! Great job Don C. Looks like one them big boys you got on camera.
  14. Great story and pics. Pretty cool did not know about this. What a great program
  15. Yeah it’s never easy losing one and you never want the deer to suffer but I would tell you don’t beat yourself up over it. You certainly didn’t want this outcome and did right by looking for it hard like you started. I would want to relive my days like my children’s births or wedding day or day I pitched perfect game though there is a big buck I shot w the bow in 1988 that I never recovered....maybe reset that day...I get it but we can’t. Perhaps you’ll find it in the morning still hunting but if not maybe take a day and reflect and then get back in the saddle and try again it is hunting not always killingPerhaps you’ll find it in the morning still hunting but if not maybe take a day and reflect and then get back in the saddle and try again it is hunting not always killing
  16. I sure hope you find her it sounds like you may have hit or low somewhere’s. I have a doll I called Tripod she has been running around or should I say hopping around for the last four years I don’t know how she got her leg taken off but I just want you to know they’re very tough creatures. As a result of being a three legged she gets a pass from me every time and all my buddies as well she has had a couple of fawns and continues to out wit the coyotes. But hopefully you find yours if not perhaps you have a tripod now.
  17. Thanks Stubborn 1VT Yes 4th year for me growing food plots. I have watched the deer eating radishes and beets since Oct. They tend to like the smaller beets Golf ball size they seem to eat those first along with the radishes they start chewing them down to the ground. I think they wait a little longer on the larger beets and parsnip and start nibbling on them now and through out the winter. Once deer season is over I will post some pics of a large herd in the plots sometimes upwards of 25 to 30+ but usually not until real cold weather sets in late Dec Jan and Feb. Yes must be nice to watch them pile into the plots from your house think it takes a few years for them to really draw or educate the deer over the winter of a new food source but once They figure it out they’re on it like flies on shat I shot him feeding in the brassicas at 8 AM on Saturday after about a dozen does and fawns piled into the plot first. Food plots work just have to do them right by putting in some time in late July each year.

Nice new Bow JP. Expect pic next fall of big antlers w the new upgrade. Your old Hoyt reminds me of my older bows I have my old Dartons that I started with. I bought my 1st bow ever at Kmart when i was 18 in 1985. Think it retailed for $131 but I got the Blue Light Special that day at Kmart at paid $99 for it. I still have it. Ha! Good luck w the new Hoyt.
