early ML season

Good luck to everyone with their smokepole this weekend up north .Looks like Sat morning is going to be nice and cold.Hopefully we can get to see some pics of any deer that get harvested.

I will be using my X7 with a .452 300gr deep curl in a crush rib sabot.

my year old and i went out this pm. 6 doe, 1 fawn and a nasty crotchhorn came out right under our stand. Passed on them all, probably will regret it. Ill head back out tomorrow.

Killed a decent 8 pointer this morning at 7:15. 170 pound dress. Had 10 deer in the field, two of them similar sized rack bucks. I took the one that presented the best shot. Dropped right there. Around 24 hours spent prepping this food plot between the field and stand work plus scouting for 7 minutes of hunting. Will try to get a picture up soon. They are on my phone.

We took a doe around 8:15am. Good sized and fun tracking job for my son. With two doe in the freezer, it is buck only for the rest of the season.

What bullet and powder did you use...

230 gr sabot with 100 grains of powder.(two pellets actually). He was a 70 yard broadside chip shot.

nice deer one minute into season. Cool. I passed a small crotch horn and a 4 point. I decided to use my 54 renegade from my father in law. A fellow hunter and his son shot two at 7:45. The boy is 14. I took him out last weekend with no success. The dad and son were in a ground blind on the edge of what was a swamp last year. First doe came up to 20 yards, son shot it. A minute or so later the 6 point followed and the dad shot it. A proud pair for sure. Oops forgot to add the son was using my grey hawk with 70 grains of goex ffg and a patched round ball. Deer went maybe 15 yards and folded up. I have a feeling that gun will find anew home soon.

Let a nice 2yr old 6pt with no brows pass by at 6pm, Then a 2yr old 9pt pass by at 6.20pm. Probably should have took the 9 as he was huge body and 9inch tines. Kinda dont want to burn tags before i hit letchworth this week!!

saw 5 doe and a 6 point. wish i had clean shots..... I was a little sketched out on the distance. about 90 to 100 yards maybe.

Our group didn't see a buck this weekend but there were many deer around. three does made the meat pole and every article of hunting clothes I have is soaked after yesterday...lol
