its not just remington, henry, and kimber. there are many other shops/factories in NY that supply parts to the industry. there is a sheet metal fab shop in the southren tier that makes high capacity clips for ruger, sig, and several other manufacturers. 30+ jobs in a very economicly depressed area. how many jobs are they truly risking? we cant afford to loose any then mister andy decides to alienate one of the few thriving industries left in NY. these workers are my customers, hell of a line of dominos hes started tumbling.

From what I understand, NY gave Remington a sizable grant or tax break not long for an addition to the facility. I would be willing to bet that they couldn't leave even if they wanted too. Has anyone heard anything similar?

They can walk out any time they want. The Valley is really seating it right now. This past summer the Union Fork and Hoe burned to the ground and the intention is NOT to rebuild that facility. The Arms had just put on a couple hundred employees too for the new contracts. Again...I wonder how many of the union employees voted the demoocratic line?

IAFF Loc. 1071 here. OUR union always seems to endorse the Dems. BUT the rank and file seldom votes that way . Its that way with many unions, you only see the excutive board on the TV supporting the Dems.

And that was one of the main reasons I quit the union I was in. I hated that my money was supporting a "cause" that I didn't. Kinda like drinking acid the burn it gave me.

if it wasnt for those Dems and the union you would be working for 10 bucks an hour without health insurance.

At one time New York was a hot bed of US gun mfg.

Baker

LC Smith

Lefever

Ithaca

Savage

Remington, Kimber and Henry still here but how much longer do they stick around?

The majority of firearms made in America at the turn of the century were all in the Northeast manufacturing corridor; CT, NY and MA. For a while. A.H. Fox were in Philadelphia before moving north.

Actually I left to better job security and wages and the benefits were comparable. See. outside the Unionmy job performance was judges as a basis for promotions and continuing assignments and the better assignments. I couldn't stomach being told to sit unemployed on a waiting list to go out on the next asignment. The year I quit the BA told me since I had just about 5 years in and there were union members with many more years than I had, expect the list to be side stepped to the longer union members "got their weeks in". (Back when you needed 26 weeks of work to get 26 weeks of unemployment). I know there are slugs and great worker in union and non union sides of the isle so this will probably ruffle a few feathers. Hard workers with good work ethic don't need a Union to "look out for them" It is the slugs that need a union in most cases.

Other than the fact that unions are bankrupting cities and states, bullying people into joining, launder taxpayer money and give it to freedom robbing politicians, do everything possibel to stop the firing of lousy teachers and conspire with Democrats to defraud American Taxpayers and subvert the democratic process .....they're wonderful!
