Yes that is a morel past it's prime.

I found about 8 morels a few days ago. All the spots that have been good in years past are empty now. Not sure why.

Not sure if it's past it's prime.. a 1000# mower partially smashed this along with another that was totally pancaked.

The large ones are saddlebacks- pretty good timing it seems as they are still soft

Pretty sure I saw a saddleback yesterday.  How are they?

I just boiled them for three minutes after slicing them thin and threw them in a quick pickle brine. Good texture and decent meaty flavor- looking forward to having them on some crusty bread in a few days

Also saw two things I could use help identifying.
1. Cool looking plant/flower

2. Odd marking in a stone

According to my Pl@ntnet app, it is Trillium cuneatum Raf.  Aka Little Sweet Betsy

I found a few Dryad Saddles too but let them continue to grow since I was actually coaching golf/mushroom hunting

This pic does not do justice to the massive size of this one

It was about 12’ up this split tree.

No morels to be found in my spot so far this year.

I wont let that stop me from dropping a few pics here of the others I find along the way that maybe you guys can help me ID and learn from.

Awesome clarity on those pics- love the blue flowers in the background

Not sure if those are chickens though- do chicken have gills on the under side?

My spring wasn't great, but not terrible. Found about 2 lbs or morels. Weird year. Found them in weird spots I don't normally and didn't find them in my usual spots.

Dried a bunch of dryads saddle, about 10lbs fresh. Rehydrated and cooked with eggs last week, pleasantly surprised. Good texture.

Waiting for the two colored boletes now, they should be up shortly. Anyone else pick these?

I've seen a ton of them but never ate. I buddy of mine loves them and convinced me to give them a try this year.
