Culvercreek hunt club
2 pounds of finely cubed and trimmed Venison Stew meat. (might work with ground too) 3 cups of sliced mushrooms 1 large onion diced 1 can of ceream of Mushroom soup 1 packet of onion soup mix 1 12 oz can of diet citrus soda (7-UP or Sprite type) 8 oz Sour cream (not the low fat crap) 1 12 oz bag od egg noodles Place the venison in the crock pot. Placed diced onion in the pot Combine packet of Onion soup mix with the soda and cream of mushroom soup mix. Mix well and pour over the venison.stir and mix well. Palce on High for 1 hour Add the Mushrooms, reduce to low and continue cooking for 6-7 hours. (I like the venison to fall right apart. Before serving- remove half the liquid and discard Stir in the sour cream thouroughly. Cook egg noodles per package directions Serve venison spooned over egg noodles (I have had it over rice as well) As left overs I mix the left over venison with the egg noodles and mix it up. It heats up well and I think even is better the second day. If you are taking to hunting camp do all the preparation and cooking at home but do not add the sour cream. Stir it in once you have reheated the venison mixture.

nyslowhand
Any time you cook venison in a crockpot with liquid it's superb. Cook in the bags with liquids work great also. Thanks for the recipe!

Culvercreek hunt club
I love trying new things...did you use stew or ground?. A buddy of mine that I got it from also used canned venison to do it. I almost didn't try it---just something about putting soda on meat...lol
Doewhacker
We used stew meat but I can see making swedish meatballs in this way too with a few minor alterations of course. Yea that soda thing was a curve ball, I'm not sure why its in there but what ever works. I could see adding in a bit of beef stock next time. Fletch
I tried it with ground just because I have a bunch to finish off and it came out good. Thanks for the recipe.
covert
I used a recipe that was (off the top of my head) similar that I got from Nugent's cookbook. Tasted great but don't sit too close to an open flame afterwards. :-X
Isles323
Just about anything from Nugent is good stuff. Even cat scratch fever.
