def. not Sika

Google up Nara Park.....

I post on another forum where there is an American lawyer who did an experimental hunt bow only this year for overseas hunters by convincing the local authorities on Hokkiado the conservation could pay from hunting. Those Sika are a larger subspecies.($6500 for 2 stags/6 days, he has smoked some whoppers with a rem 870 slug gun; and had some good bear sightings, no shots)I don't have a link....google "Eric Rose,Sika hunt" or similar, should pull up a pic. He had a petition drive at one point for support. Tough to get a gun permit and hunt in Japan, very expensive yearly so they have dwindling local hunter numbers and over run with pigs and deer some places.

These deer are closer to the Maryland sika size here in the US......a smaller deer, not sure of the base herd origin.

Closest relative is Rusa found farther south in a much heavier package overall.
