So I'm in the market for a new release...

I've had the same release for almost 10 years now (Scott Little Goose), but the stitching and leather is finally showing enough wear to make me concerned.  I want to pick up a new release in the next couple of days so I have enough time to practice with it before the season starts.

 

Anyone have any suggestions?  What's your favorite release?

I got one of the TruFire fold back releases and I love it!  The one I have the length can be adjusted by spinning the body of the release and tightening a screw.  Its nice because you can customize it to the exact length you want.  Kind of pricy at $100 but I think it was worth it....I spent over $1200 on my bow so what's another $100 for a good release right?

One other question, as stated above, I've always had a single-caliper release.  Is there any significant difference between single and a double caliper?

 

Bowaholic - thanks for the suggestion, I've never seen a fold back release, I'm going to have to take a closer look.

the fold back option is great allows you to tuck it under your sleeve and keep it out of the way while climbing your stand.

I just got the spot Hogg wise guy release, and it is the really good quality, super light trigger, and the best customer support you can get. A little pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Honestly, if you like the Scott little goose, buy another one. They still make them.

I did like it, but I'm just wondering, after 10 years, are there better products on the market.  I was looking at the open hook "no look" releases and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to something like that.

If you shoot to your satisfaction and harvest your deer humanely evry time, I would buy the exact same release. Why change something that you like and are used to. I have used the exact same tru fire release every since I went to a compound bow many many moons ago. I wouldn't even dream of using something else because it works well for me.

+1 on the fold backs. i never take my release off in the woods, its nice to be able to tuck in under your shirt sleave well your setting up.  tucked in its nice and quiet

I have a Tru-fire Hurricane with the fold back buckle.  I really like the adustability of the release.  Plus that fold back option is super sweet!!!!

 I ended up going with a Tru-Fire Hardcore Buckle Release Max Camo. I love the fold back, the easy adjustments, and open hook.  I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
