Main reason for the post is I've been working on an idea for using solar powered wireless repeaters throughout my woods, then having WiFi enabled cards in the cameras so I can pull the photos from my shed. Was wondering if you or anyone you knew had attempted such a thing.

I believe the wifi repeaters require quite a bit of juice to run, so much that you'll need way more solar panels than you'd like to invest in a project like this.

I'm not familiar with the WiFi enabled SD cards, but don't they require a push method rather than a pull? I imagine they aren't ON all the time, or else the cams would run out of juice real fast.

If you create a schedule to allow charging of batteries of said repeaters by solar, you can probably get by with a few transmission per day, but it won't be a "live" feed.

I could be wrong, just thinking out loud.

I think they push as each picture is taken, if in range of a signal, if signal is not in range, it pushes all when it comes in range.

I was thinking :

and then the cameras with these :

If you are targeting only one cam, you may be better off going a wired solution to terminate at a local WiFi AP. If you are looking to make a WiFi city out of your property, then the repeaters seems like the way to go. I think your biggest problem is still power to keep these devices up and transmitting. Is a direct sight-to-sight possible for what you'll looking to do?

Im another IT nerd around here

You could think wireless bridges, you can cover more distance with them than repeaters, especially if you can get line of sight between them. Problem youll run into is powering them. Ive never heard of a solar powered one. You could also do it with fiber, but then your prices are going way up, and youll still need power. Youd be better off just getting a couple of cellular cams.

IT guy also here and recently out of work.  I actually set up a live cam on the wood line 250 feet from my home and did a quick and dirty webpage that broadacasts it.  Used a WIFI repeater below by deck which connects to the in house router.  Working good so far.  If you're interested in the address PM me.
