Deffinately a "skipper" right now, but has potential in a few years!

You can tell that's a young one because the rack is still pretty firm and perky and isn't hanging down to it's elbows.

Generally speaking, the mature ones will also have fewer teeth.., an extra flap of skin and hair under their chins..,and usually travel alone under the cover of darkness, and prefer to stay closer to feeding areas.

 

The young chubby buck harassing her will probably soon be chased off by the protective paternal elder. Probably the last pic you'll get of that little tub o' testosterone! Wouldn't surprise me if his carcass turns up in an overgrown thicket before they ever reach the bedding area!
