Doc
Was that slick, or what? I'm not so sure about using structural supports on your house though. I'm thinking a tree might be a little bit safer .... lol.
88GW
We do it all the time and it works awesome. We use thin cable with a loop on both ends, wrap it around golf ball and tow away with a tractor, four wheeler or truck.
hunter49
I have done this a few times does work well. I hang deer from barn rafter, cut around the neck cut legs off at knees & slit the hide up the legs (it helps) , back up withthe 4x4 & it peels right off. JALA RUT
Does that work better on a fresh kill or after it's been hung a couple days? Edited February 15, 2014 by JALA RUT
Culvercreek hunt club
Works best on fresh kills
RangerClay
Works best on fresh kills Oh yeah! Once they get stiffened up there is more tearing of flesh. Edited February 28, 2014 by RangerClay
noahmstone
This is basically the way I was originally taught to skin a deer not only is it faster but it leaves a lot less fur on the meat that you have to pick off and clean off during the butchering process. we would hang the deer from a beam specifically installed for this purpose instead of laying it on the ground. Culvercreek hunt club
but it leaves a lot less fur on the meat that you have to pick off and clean off during the butchering process. we do our hanging and any hair is burned off with a propane torch with a fan tip. POOF. all gone.

Culvercreek hunt club
Sounds efficient but must stink. I wouldn't do it in the kitchen but there isn't really that much of it. Not bad at all. We cut up in a pole barn and you may get a quick whiff but worth it.
noahmstone
I misunderstood when I read the post I thought you burned the hair off before skinning I now realize you are only burning the left over hair after skinning. That wouldn't be to bad. With the gulf all method the only place there is usually hair left is on the neck roast where make the initial cuts. I might have to try the torch method in the future to clean up the neck roast.

noahmstone
That's what I was thinking. When I misunderstood it I was like this guy can't be serious. Edited March 6, 2014 by noahmstone
Culvercreek hunt club
Can you imagine how badly that would smell? I have been around barn fires where livestock was lost and that reeked.
