No April Fools

Came across a nice set yesterday while gathering maple sap. Numbers 3 and 4 for the year.

 Tanks everyone! The sheds laid 19' apart in a bedding area noticed in January. I like to stay out of those areas till April 1st, and it paid off. Dang near as much fun as hunting those whitetails, almost, LOL.

Found shed number 10 today, yahoooo!  Made double digits finally. The water drained out of this area somewhat, so I decided to go in with knee boots. Didnt dare take a camera.  Saw tines poking out, there it was. Soon as I grabbed it, I knew what buck it came from. Right side. His 2nd and 3rd set of sheds in the pics.

Had a nice few hours of shed hunting, between the raindrops today.  Seen a huge white patch ahead. Their laid the first dead buck in all my many miles of hunting. Every critter must have chewed on him. His antlers were chewed right off and gone.

Got to thinking what I said above. Went back in and took some more pics. Not sure if he shed them, or if they were chewed off. No antlers of any kind were found in the area.

How was your sugaring season?  We only did about 60% of what did last year.  About 34 gallons ( I'm a small timer).

How was your sugaring season?  We only did about 60% of what did last year.  About 34 gallons ( I'm a small timer).

Season was short and sweet, maybe half of last years. More trees next year and upgrading my equipment. Good quality syrup though.
