ATbuckhunter
Anyone ever use Hevi Shot Magnum Blend shells low recoil? Im thinking about getting some for next season.
WNY Bowhunter
No. But, I've used the regular ones since they first came out 4 or 5 seasons ago. IMHO hevishot is worth the price tag!!!

Price tag was the reason I didn't buy it already. Looks like the magnum blend is less expensive than the regular ones.
MACHINIST
I used to shoot the blends, would shoot them again in a instant.Bad MOFO shells!!! I tried longbeards this year and hey group a touch better and you get 10 shots for 25 and Hevi blends are 5 for 25-30 depending on where you buy.Hevi shot has a rebate on there ste if you buy soon so make sure if you can you take advantage of that.I have used it the last 2 years.Takes the sting out of the $$$ part of the equation. WNY Bowhunter
Price tag was the reason I didn't buy it already. Looks like the magnum blend is less expensive than the regular ones. I meant that I have used (and still use) the regular mag blends. Prior to that I also used hevi 6s and even straight 7s. WNY Bowhunter
I plan on given the Win. Longbeard XR shells a try after season to see if they live up to their hype... Edited May 28, 2014 by WNY Bowhunter
ATbuckhunter
What choke do you suggest I use?
Terry
I also use the mag blends. I use the Hevi13 choke and get good numbers with my 870sm.
MACHINIST
I used the Primos jellyhead with mine and the pattern was good out to 45,never patterned farther than that
rotorooter23
I have used them for 2 years now and worth every penny. I have mine paired up with a Kicks choke. the patterns are very impressive out to 60+ yards. If I can find a picture I will post it. Kicks says not to use the hevi shot but I did a lot of research and no one has had a problem with it & neither have I. All in all if you think about it, how many shells do you actually shoot a year? I will gladly pay 30 dollars for a box of 5 shells if I keep getting results like I get.
MACHINIST
^^^this^^^ They are worth the $$ especially if you only shoot 5 shells a year between hunting and making sure POI in still on.Hell I spend more in snacks and coffee on my way to hunting during the week most weeks!! moog5050
At machinists advice, I went with the Magnum blend and jellyhead choke. They do pattern great. Can't attest to how well they kill turkey as I have yet to shoot at one, but they sure look deadly. lol

I think if I shot up to 5 shells a year it would still be worth it. Any one ever use Indian creek choke? I hear some really good things with them. WNY Bowhunter
Yes, Indian Creek make a great choke. I used one for a couple of seasons with my Browning BPS but have since switched to a Pure Gold. Both chokes patterned about the same but the IC was a pain to clean. What brand/model gun are you using? Edited May 28, 2014 by WNY Bowhunter

mpavlus
I shoot a Mossberg 835 in 3 1/2 inch. Started shooting Remington Premiere Mags #4. Switched to Federal flight control shells 3 1/2 #4 because they patterned a little better. This year I tried the Winchester XR Long Beard 3 1/2 #4 and was impressed with the patterns at 20 yd. 30 yd. and 40 yd. Filled both tags useing them this year. Worked good in my gun. turkeyfeathers
Touched off a 3.5" heavi mag blend today from my 1187 on a bird. Never felt it. 39 yards with bottom of my pattern. Not a pellet in either breast. Crumpled him.
