First-light
Are the animals getting bigger or are we getting smaller??? That is huge!
JGaruti3
I believe it...the Poconos has some monster bears. I have a house up there and I have seen some humongous black bears. I think the reason they get so big and fat is because all they eat is human garbage!

WNYBuckHunter
Nice bear, why bother with the tricky photo though? No reason to do that with such a big bear.

SteveB
Actually was a semi tame 17 year old - there are pics of a guy hugging it. People had supposedly been feeding it twinkies for years. Several guys participated in the kill - there was no real hunt.

SteveB
Yep - hugging it. If it's alright to post to another site, here is more: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/northeast/334308-2-world-new-pa-state-record-black-bear.html More here: http://bullcreekblog.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-state-record-bear-taken-with.html
burmjohn
They had to shoot it 8 times with bows and cross bows? Anyways its a wild bear, from what I was reading... No? Stupid people fed it, is that the hunters fault? Unless it was the hunter(s) feeding it. The story goes 10 different directions, not sure which way is up. SteveB
Not a kill I would be bragging on or proud of. Like a little hunt with my hunt. JMO.
burmjohn
Just read this other article on it, it said: "This particular bear was out on public hunting ground on national park service land and was considered fair game," Schweitzer said. "We did take a look at that, but we're not substantiating anything, so unless something else comes up we're considering it good." http://thedailyreview.com/news/875-pound-bear-killed-in-pa-1.1066449
Mr VJP
The first article also stated the bear was tagged a few years back in NJ. There are some big bears in NW NJ too, because they haven't been hunted there for years.
