Full mount or 1/2 mount?

I got bear that was 240lbs live weight 210lb dressed out. Should I get life size mount or 1/2 mount? What you do

1/2 mount or rug..250-300 is an average bear in nys...  bigger in size then full... rugs are easier for resale by far if it ever came to it.

If you are talking weight I bet the average isn't even 200.

 

X2 on the rug having value if you ever wanted to sell it. If I get another one it will get made and sold right away.

I have a similar plan of just selling or trading hide of next bear to taxidermist for cash or other work

1st do you have room for a full mount? figure base 32in x5ft head may or may not hang over. standing bear is just unnatural to me. a big rug from a big bear is a whole wall if hung. i'm guessing your bear is 5ft nose to tail..

If you had the space and money then do the full mount but nothing wrong with a half mount or a rug. When i shoot my first bear I plan on getting it made into a rug.

Yea I don't like standing black bear.

My first bear will be a half or 3/4 that can go on the wall. Full mount will take up too much floor space. Congrats!

I got a 3/4 mount done on my first and only bear. Honestly I have a little regret in not getting the rug done. Why? Because it surprised me how much of the back of the bear is not used in the 3/4 mount. And that coat is such a cool part of the bear. Also the cost was burdensome (1400). Rug would have been cheaper.
