My 82 yo neighbor woke up to a ruckus in his back yard a couple of years ago. There was a yearling spike doing battle with his grill.

Stan grabbed a piece of 2x4 lumber to chase it away but he slipped and fell going out his back door. He called me and I ran over to make sure he (my neighbor) was ok. I shooed the deer away from his now-trashed grill and we sat on his back deck for twenty minutes laughing and watching that animal stagger around like it was Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras.

His grill was about 20 feet from a plum tree with lots of over-ripe fruit on the ground.
