wheelieman
Just got done hanging stands at my spot, The farmers have already cut all of the beans surrounding the area and started cutting the corn on friday, The hay field was just cut and bailed last week, Now i noticed that the farmer planted what i believe to be winter wheat, on 20 acres, This the earliest ive ever seen them cut everything, Is any body else experiencing the same issues? G-Man
A lot of farmers got.crops in this year in April, that winter grain will be a hotspot, as will the hay field regrowth.
growalot
the last field behind us was being finished as we put the roof on the blind...the beans a mile and a half away were getting ready to harvest last Monday ..they had the machimes there..so I think those may be done as well...no alfalfa or red clover cut ..may be too late for those??? Nomad
One farmer who's corn butts up to my spot has cut that field and I see others in the area have as well. The farm I hunt has hundreds upon hundreds of acres of beans and just as much corn, I have not seen any of theirs cut yet. Normally they cut beans first by me sometime in early/mid bow season then on to corn which can often be up till gun. Right now my best spots have beans to the east and corn on the west side. The Timothy field is getting hammered right now some really nice bucks in it. As for it being an issue, mixed bag. When i have half mile corn fields by my little 80 acres of woods/ thickets it gives them lots of hiding spaces , once it's cut my thicket is the hiding spot they run to. BKhunter
The farmer usually cuts the corn and bean where we hunt the week before halloween. Haven't been up since the beginning of the month, so I have not clue what he's been up to. I wouldn't mind him cutting it earlier. Takes away a lot of real estate for the deer to hide, and they always come out around dusk and hammer the field while feeding. Have a nice little spot where we always go when you need to put meat in the freezer. I enjoy getting that out of the way and then hunt for my buck. landtracdeerhunter
We have a few soys being combined over the weekend. The grain corn is still drying down. Silage corn been in the bunks. Oats and acorns are big sellers here, right now. Hunt that wheat field, if you can. It will be a big hit, after everything else dries back. WNYBuckHunter
Beans are starting to come down in my area the last week or so. Silage corn has been being chopped for weeks. Hay has been done within the last few weeks as well.
