Lyme Disease - contaminated meat ?

Deer ticks can carry a bacteria that can spread Lyme Disease . Deer can conceivably get the Lyme Disease . So , if a deer has the disease and we eat that meat can we get sick or does cooking the meat kill the Bacteria ?  I did a lot of GOOGLing and couldn't find an answer .

havent seen a clear cut "no"  in anything i've researched over the years so I dont think it can happen but yet I dont think it is 100% guaranteed that it cant happen

I'm gonna say no...........if you saw some of the tick infestation on some of the Long Island deer you would vomit, I've killed and eaten quite a few, I'd be very surprised if the majority didn't have Lyme disease.

Lyme disease cannot be contacted by eating meat. Only by the bacteria from the tick which has lived a portion of its life on a wild mouse and then a deer. without this cycle, no lyme disease.

If the deer has lymes, and you cut yourself while butchering, could you get it like that?

I would say no to eating since stomach acids would probably kill the bacteria.

Ticks are killing all the Moose in Maine.  The population is way down.   200,000 ticks per moose, too much blood & hair loose, the moose die.
