I shot this deer today as some of you have seen in the live from woods area. I figured I'd start this to get some opinions as I can't tell and don't know much about this. It's completely healed and has hair growing over it. This doe was limping like crazy (obviously ). But what does everyone think? Most likely born that way or could it be anice old wound? My neighbor and dad say they'd guess born this way. Thanks!

Very diff to tell externally once skinned look for excessive scar tissue if not much then most likely born with. If a traumatic wound remaining bone would most likely be jagged from birth prob rounded. Now I'm speaking from a human standpoint big medical back ground not a vet but basics are similar

Thats really cool. Theres a three legged doe in my neighborhood that weve seen for three years now. Is there a shoulder blade in there?

No sign of scar and the bone was only jagged on one spot the rest was smooth

Old wound shoulder muscles are.developed they would.be non existance on one if born that way, have seen several over the years all wounded, never from birth ,coyote or fox would get it as a fawn 99.9%of the time

This deer also had a fresh wound on her nose half way down it. Definitely from this year, she was a survivor I have lots of respect for these deer.

If there was a piece of bone that was jagged I would venture it was an injury. Be neat to know the story, an amazing will to live that's for sure...

I have taken deer that had previous , horrific gunshot  wounds. The worse was a little doe with its entire bottom jaw blown off….Nothing there…. I gladly used a doe tag on that one.

I skinned and finished everything up yesterdayesterday and there was no jagged edge on the shoulder at all. I should have taken pictures but didn't think of it. With little experience I'd say born this way .
