DIY projects

I enjoy the satisfaction of a well done DIY project as much as anyone.  The last two days I installed hardwood flooring in two rooms in our home.  I have to tip my hat to anyone that does this on a regular basis.  The results were great, but man all that bending over is back breaking work.  Don't know how you regular flooring guys do it day in and out.  Four naproxen for me this morning.

Before pre finish , flooring guys got high from the fumes off the poly, so they didn't know how much they hurt .

Friend was a very sought after flooring guy, zero advertising , word of mouth only . He drove a van that always had a dish pan or two of poly and various finishes just covered with a towel .

He is the funniest guy I ever met, that might have been the reason.

The key to longevity in the construction trades is having a good helper. Once I'm on my knees doing tile, laminate, or wood flooring I stay there and let the young guy do the legwork. I'm a short guy, which helps prevent back injuries, but my hips and knees are pretty well shot from all the years of 'up and down'.

I will say this, give me a heavy object to move once, rather than light objects 1000 times.  Guess that's why I always liked powerlifting vs. body building.  I have trained heavy for years, but I get more sore from a day of manual labor for sure.  My hats off to you philo.
