Im not sure how you all hang your stands, but I have been using a climber for the last couple years. One thing I like to do is take my stand in the day before I plan on hunting it. I hang it on the base of the tree all set and ready to climb. This way when I go hunt in the am, or evening I have one less thing to carry. I have a hard time carrying my stand, bow, backpack etc all at the same time since I have had 5 different back surgeries, and Im usually a mile or so from the truck, so this just seems to help me out. I place a cable lock on it so I won't have to worry about a thief taking it. I was just wondering if anyone else did anything similar to this?

I haven't done this (my first climber is in the mail), but I have seen a climber cable locked to the base of a tree on public land.  It was there each time a stalked through that area.

Good idea but I think it would educate any mature deer you are in the area. When bow hunting you want that surprise element. In the morning if you can't pack it in then I would probably do the same thing. I have hung stands the morning before I killed a nice deer there in the evening and did the same thing you do and saw big deer.

The one that got away I put up the stand the night before and walked through the area where I was planning on hunting. The next morning the deer below came in like it was meant to be. He got within 20 yards and stopped behind some brush he smelled my scent trail where I walked in with the stand. Before he got out of range I pulled back and let an arrow fly. I didn't see a branch and stuck it in the ground. Later the next week the neighbor guy shot him. Too this day it will haunt me. This deer scored into the 150s gross easily.

I just bought a rucksack frame and will be modding it to my climber should help carry it by alot. So far just the basic tinkering I bet I could carry 2 times the weight with same effort...may help your back.

Neighbor uses a climber and it sits in same tree all season idk why he just doesn't put stand there

I switch between a climber and hang on stands, and I try to have the stands set up way ahead of time and then stalk to my stand and climb up. With mainly my climber, I try to walk in with it early afternoon and hunt the rest of the day. Leave it at the base of the tree, spray it down with cover scent and be back first thing in the morning. Depending on activity, will decide to make a move or stay put another day or so. I agree, carrying a climber and your back pak strapped to it weighs a lot more than just the stand itself.

I have climbers but haven't used them in over a decade, I prefer hangon and set them weeks before season. 

2 problems I found with climbers ,there is never a tree where I need one to be that is climbable ,and never have shooting lanes  where I do want hunt.. maybe it would work with gun but I found them to be pretty useless in bow where I hunt.

Three of the best bow hunters I know use climbers exclusively, for what it's worth.

When I'm carrying my climber AND a pack, I strap the pack directly to the back of the stand.  In the coldest weather, most of the time I'll also strap my coat and two other undergarment tops to the stand also.  Not super comfortable (it sucks really) but it works just fine and keeps me from overheating all the way. :)
