Got back from a deer hunt in Texas a couple days ago, just getting around to posting pictures. Great time as usual, killed a respectable buck, an Axis deer doe, and a fall turkey. Missed a hog the first night. Saw lots of quality deer every sit. This is all low fence hunting, NOT A PRESERVE.The outfitter treated us to a duck hunt the one morning after a few of us were tagged out. Already planning my next trip!!

My first out of state hunt happened 34 years ago right now and it was in Texas also. Fond fond memories.

Congrats, very nice indeed. I've been to Texas twice. The hunting there is unreal. Hope you brought some axis meat home... it's super.

Oh yeah, this is the 3rd axis I've shot. I made Salisbury steak out of some ground meat 2 nights ago, DEELICIOUS!!!

Sweet and congrats.. Where abouts in Texas? We have family in Keller and Houston...so if we ever get out that way I'd like to get a hunt in...very expensive? Be nice to stay close by with family and still hunt...I'd love to hog hunt...

This time I hunted near San Angelo, I've hunted near San Antonio, Hondo, and in the Panhandle before also. In the grand scheme of things, I wouldn't say it's cheap, but I wouldn't call it expensive either...you can get a good hunt with airport transportation, meals, and lodging for under $2,000 if you do your homework.  If you DON'T come home from Texas with a very nice buck, something is definitely wrong... A hog hunt is a lot cheaper, and they want every one killed on sight. I can PM the name of the outfitter to anyone who is interested.
