turkeyfeathers
Made the drive this morning to listen to the woods wake up. Glorious morning. Birds started to rip on other side of road at 6:07. Usually this side about 20 minutes later so still awaiting. 2 herons just flew over and squawked, scared the crud out of me. For those hunting the youth season. Be sitting at 5:30 at the absolute latest. Cmon gobbles over here, pretty talkative on other side. turkeyfeathers
Deer foot stomping and blowing at me. And curious as could be as keeps walking closer. I can't see it in pic but it's there lol I got nothing happening up here. Gibson crow call and hoot tube won't even get them to shock gobble. Disappointing. Birds gobbled on other hill for awhile but shut down early. Holy woodpeckers Batman Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

turkeyfeathers
Put up the pop up blind in case of lousy weather. Tough to brush it in with no greenery Found me some dinosaur bones. Adkhunter1590
I can't get turkeys to shock gobble at owl hooters like I could 10 years ago. But I think it's due to owl population rising and they just hear it more. I know I hear multiple owls every time I sit in the woods. If the gobbled at that it would be non stop around here. I setup a blind yesterday too for this weekend Camera 10 ft in front of blind(don't mind the time or date, both are messed up)
Adkhunter1590
O and the best news is that I got permission on 70 additional acres bordering the 40 I have now!! I sure do love it when old fashion door knocking works!

Last year we set the blind up when we got there and had birds right in front of us. I was planning to do the same for this weekend.

Turkeys don't seem to care, but it makes it a bit easier when you are stumbling in at 5am.
turkeyfeathers
Gotta say I was really hoping for the holy crap factor this morning with birds gobbling. Had 2 flocks totaling 43 birds around me during deer season quite a few days. Brother then saw 60 birds about 3 weeks ago . Guessing another flock joined forces. After daughter and I both going birdless last year I was and still hoping for a banner year. That Gibson crow call ( probably the best call maker there is ) and hoot tube ( makes me sound more like a barred owl than a barred owl himself ) drew a big fat zero on shock gobbles. Looking on the bright side , birds across the street usually rip all day. They went hard for 10-15 minutes and shut down. Hoping for some vocals this weekend. turkeyfeathers
Adkhunter, you need to blow up those pics and frame them. That's awesome. Good luck this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ATbuckhunter
Don't think the birds care when you put up the blind. I put mine up yesterday, but that was only because I didn't want to bother with it when I'm out. Saw a lot of sign and tracks 60 yards from my blind which is great news to me.
