I'm semi-retired and visiting my Mom, Dad & Sis. Which is why I can stay and not break the bank. I'll be spending real money when I head to Lake Como, Orvieto and Rome later this trip.

The only thing I really liked about Rome was the Vatican. I'd go to Rome just to see that again. Although you've fair I was only there for 6 hours and didn't get to see all that much.

After Naples which is a rougher town Rome is the most historically densely packed city in Italy. But like most history it's best experienced by immersion. Wandering Rome it is just as easy to walk a street little changed from medieval times as it is to find Roman ruins. Time is the only ingredient you need to enjoy the timelessness of the Eternal City.

If you like that sort of thing, youd love exploring the old castles that dot my part of Europe. Enjoy Rome though!

I really didn't care for Rome either.  It was took commercialized.  I found that I had a much better time in the smaller towns in Italy then the big cities.  For example Cinque Terre was great even while still being a major destination spot.  In Rome, the quint neighborhood of Trastevere was a nice quiet breather.  If you want to wander around Rome, be sure to check out Trastevere.

It is called the golden coast for a reason. You've never seen crystal clear sea water till you've been to the golden coast of Croatia down to northern Greece. If we're ever in Europe at the same time, your more then welcome to swing by if you'd like.

These pics are amazing, thanks for sharing. Ive never been to Europe but am planning a trip to Spain next June. We had an exchange student last year and we are going to visit her family

Spain is very similar to Italy and Montenegro as far as habitat and country side
