zeus1gdsm
So as promised I went and hung a new stand on the field edge facing into the woods near the swamp. Once I got up I realised I was a few too many trees away from the swamp to see in there for a shot. But it was a great sit. And I'm confident in the stand. But..... At legal light I packed up to head down the tree. At the bottom I was futzing around untying my haul rope etc and I heard a noise. I look up to see a doe about 15 yards from me. I freeze.. she hangs for a minute looking from me and then behind her. and then bounds off with her tail up. So I finish packing up. I stand and stretch my back and just as I get all my gear on (hang on , pack, gun) I see another deer stomping her way towards me at about 30 yards straight at me. I freeze. She gets to about 25 and then bolts screeching 3-4 times and as this happens I see there was a second deer off to my right. So. Did I just burn this stand? Give it a day or two to rest? Or is it fine because the caught me on the ground. And not in the tree. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Lawdwaz
Hunt it with no worries, as soon as you can.
genesee_mohican
It looks like a great spot over looking the corner of the field with woods behind you. Keep the wind in your face and be still and ready while on stand.
Robhuntandfish
Seems like there are lots of deer about. I wouldn't be afraid to hunt it because a couple of does busted you. If your target buck did then that might be a different story. Looks like a great spot. I have one stand i cannot get into without getting busted no matter which waybor wind I come in on. Still see lots of deer there.

coonhunter
I would hunt it. Now, you need to get in there and really look around you. Figure out where you can get clear shots at, and where you will have to hold off, or maybe not even get a shot. I love the thicker woods, but sometimes you just don't have a shot. That's the part some hunters never learn. Look for branches right in front of you too because lots of times your scope will be just above them, but your barrel will be right in line. Almost guaranteed you are going to see more deer in the thick stuff, it's just a matter of getting a clean shot. Good luck.
Bionic
Thats an amazing looking spot in my opinion. Good luck. Are my eyes playing tricks, or is that a ground blind in the distance across the field? Edited November 14, 2017 by Bionic
mlammerhirt
Not to high-jack the tread but we recently hung a ladder stand on an inside corner of our cut soy bean field as well....sat there last week for a few hours early morning and nothing was moving. Neighbor was trying to convince us to hang a stand else where since his buddy had one 50 yards from us facing our field...so this new stand will serve double duty. Watch so the neighbors don't shoot into our field, and have a spot to reach out with the muzzleloader in the late season.Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

zeus1gdsm
Update******Sat the stand tonightHad 2 young does show up over my left shoulder in the corner of the field closest to me. They just popped up most likely from the swamp below the field.I froze and they made their way into the woods. I was able to stand as the tree was between us. They didn't blow out. I was able to get my gun up and on them and they made their way behind me through the woods.I thinks it's the twins whose mother I missed with the muzzle loader earlier. Then just at light another popped up behind me this time in the woods. I swirled in the stand with my leg hanging off thinking he would keep moving along my right side but he saw me and stared as I froze for about 3 minutes. Gun up and all. Then made his way straight at me and behind me. Little spike. I let him walk though I had an opportunity to take him.So I definitely need to move 2 trees down away from the swamp so I can face that direction and not have to stand and turn to shoot.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Core
They way I see it is deer don't talk to one another so you maybe burned it for the deer that saw you. I took a deer from a stand this year and it didn't burn it for the deer that walked by shortly thereafter, nor the deer I took from it a couple weeks later, nor the other multitude of deer that I have seen walk by the same stand (including a couple that made me in it).
