Trigger518
Just curious on everyone's take on what dec/highway Dept does with roadkill deer and disposal methods, I ask because a friend and me found a spot with alot of dead deer some skeletons some fresh, the fresh one was gutted perfect but no meat taken at all and no visible gunshot wounds just seemed strange they would dump them in the manner they did. Hock3y24
I know for a fact they have a piece of land here they dump them on, we hunt that parcel.
Hock3y24
only thing i can think is the gutted one someone wanted then decided they didn't and left it on the side of the road maybe. Edited December 5, 2017 by Hock3y24
GreeneHunter
Unfortunately where I have my acreage the town owns a half acre along the road that borders my property and uses that spot for roadkill ! It keeps the coyote population going there , some years I've found 3-4 fresh roadkill's there !
Bionic
The DPW I work for dumps them right on the highway garage property in the back, in a pile. If the deer are too mangled to pick up, and are not near dwellings, or structures, it gets pushed off out of sight, and covered with pulverized lime, to help it decompose, and mask stentch.
turkeyfeathers
Our town/village has a dump site that the turkey vultures hang out on the roofs of the nearby buildings 365 Days a year.
Swamp_bucks
I know ive seen the county and state just take them to one of the local dumps in the area.
TreeGuy
Our town/village has a dump site that the turkey vultures hang out on the roofs of the nearby buildings 365 Days a year. Those roofs used to be white...lolI had a spot out at the old house that was a county dump spot. It was about 300yrds from my property. I attribute alot of success with coyotes because of that dump. fasteddie
I believe the State and Counties out source the Road Kill removal . The people that pick them up usually wait until there are a few in a given area which makes it more cost effective for them .
