Christmas tree sucks up a lot of water . Bought a pre cut Douglas fir tree at Wilberts last Friday . Brought it in the house Sunday afternoon since nothing good was on TV . Mixed some of the tree preservative with a gallon of water . Since Sunday I have poured 3 gallons of water in the tree holder and no , it doesn't leak . After sucking up all that water I hope the tree doesn't Pee !

we got ours last weekend and it is drinking like crazy too.  I like when it does though. Holds the needles better then. When it stops is when they start dropping.

Suggestion to anyone gettign a fresh tree. whether you buy a precut or cut one yourself. trim a small section of about 1/2" off the bottom just before you place in the stand and immediately add water. The sap will create a coating and keep it from drinking like it should. It does it pretty fast too.

I took the sheet off the tree and brought it up from the basement the day after Thanksgiving. The lights and garlands and such were still on it from last year. All we had to do was hang the ornaments and voila..... all done. Fa-la-la-la-la....etc., etc.

I've heard and have done warm water for the first filling. Its suppose to help the tree suck up more water as the sap does not clog it all up. No idea if its true or not. Our tree always lasts from the 1st weekend in December thru the new year without dropping needles like crazy.

We used to put up an artificial tree . I called it our JB Hunter Tree . Then a got rid of some varmints for a tree farmer . That was it ! The wife wanted a real tree from then on . My job is to bring the tree in , set it up and put the lights on it . My job is done until it's time to take the tree down .
