philoshop
My 2001 Chrysler Town & Country finally gave it up. It wouldn't pass inspection because of the rusted frame, and then the power steering let loose again for the 7th or 8th time. it's parked in my driveway waiting for a salvage hauler. The motor and tranny are good, so I'm hoping for more than the usual $200 junk deal. It was a great and dependable construction work vehicle for ten years, and I won't say anything bad about it. I'll miss it. So long old friend. The new (to me) truck is a 2000 Ford Ranger. I know, it's older than what I just had, but it has a lot less miles and fewer annoying issues. The side panels on the bed look like crap, all rusted out, but the cab is perfect and it runs and drives great. I don't know if we have any Ford Ranger fans here, but the prices have skyrocketed since Ford discontinued the line. I had one back in the late eighties and it was a great truck. Just needed to gloat/vent after a long day of dealing with the paperwork. I'll post some pics when I can. "I'm on the road again." Almost two weeks of being homestead-bound had me going nuts.

turkeyfeathers
Congrats to be on the road again. No carpet bed lining right ?
philoshop
Plastic bed liner and tonneau cover. Four extra tires to sweeten the deal. The exterior panel rot hasn't gotten to the inside, she's solid. I have an air mattress for overnight excursions, no need for carpet. Sorry Moog. A truck can be nice even without carpet, kind of.

Through all the years I've owned and slept in trucks I always had a little piece of carpet outside to wipe my boots on before climbing into the bed, for bed.
Jeremy K
My best friend has a ranger ,he says he's driving it til it dies . He's sick of driving it after 12 years and 240+ thousand miles ,he wishes it would just die already LOL.
Lawdwaz
In 1983 I bought a brand new Ford Ranger from Jim Doyle Ford on Delaware Ave. My salesman was John Lipiarz (SP) and it cost (IIRC) $8300...........I put 180K on it but blew the motor at 160K. Sold it to a friend in 1991 and he put probably 75K on it. It was the first year they offered them and it was 4x4 with a stick, no A/C. A great ride!!

It's not any bigger than my old ranger. It's just more expensive. I don't know what's up with that.
philoshop
My first day of really running errands with the "new" truck. I'm a very happy camper!! I even took it out on a hunting scouting trip along some dirt roads. It's nice to be back in the driver's seat of a solid vehicle again. Best to all!! You'll know me by the smile on my face.
