First-light
I just drove 25 minutes to my local sport shop where I have been buying my license for years. I get a doe permit because I'm a land owner. This year I tell the guy I need a legacy license and a doe permit. He wants to see paper work for my property??? I told him I provided it the first year I bought the place and the info is in the computer. He tells me how do I know you didn't sell the place two months ago. Now I'm getting a bit angry with the whole situation. I tell him I've been buying my license here for years and I was never asked to produce paper work except for the first year I owned the place. He looks at me and says, "can't do it." So I say what do you need? A tax receipt will do. I look at him and say that only tells you that I paid my taxes, it doesn't tell you if I sold the place in the last two months. He says, still need it. I don't get it, I understand that sure they want to see proof that you own the place but how????? I'm tired-just wanted to buy my GD license today. I'll have to go back next week and try it all over again, maybe they will want my first born!
First-light
Wow, your right it takes all types. The older guys in the store were watching what was going on and let the kid just handle it. Sure I'll go back there next week and bring my tax receipt. It's just down right annoying. I probably could go online ight now and get my license with the permit. I think I may do that. Back in a few minutes.
wdswtr
I get a landowners permit as well Burt and every year they have asked me for my tax assement papers to show proof of ownership and acreage. Not once have they not asked and I have got it at a couple different places over the years it just depends on which place is open when I am ready to buy. First-light
Just got mine in the mail. Took 5 days in all, not bad. I think this is the way to go in the future, the computer doesn't give you a hassle at checkout!
growalot
I was a a village office....they also asked for my drivers license which I do like...for I know at a lot of the local clerks guys go in and pick up tags for several different ppl in their families...which isn't suppose to happen.......The out of state guys had their cousin pick up their tags for years...I often wondered if they were picking up instate tags while these guys lived in Vermont :
