Velvet is off the antlers

I was up state last weekend and saw a nice 6pt buck and his antlers were nice and clean. Checked my trail cameras and wonder where all the bucks have gone. Check cameras every 2-3 weeks and this time there were fewer deer and no bucks, whats up with that.

i find a statement that a guy made to me before i was kicked of the property i hunted for 6 years to be kinda funny. it goes along with what G-Man said. he told me that last year when i started putting my cameras out and scouting that all the deer movement changed. i just said yeah that was late sept. it happens every year. he then tells me that nobody saw any deer because of it.. i laughed and said i saw deer every time i was in stand. which is basically true. but anyways his poor hunting and scouting skills cost me a great hunting area. i have a feeling if i hadnt shot the buck i have on my wall now. i would be still hunting there.

Sorry just had to vent a little.

I have a quick question. Why do some of you guys look at your cards on one camera and take a picture of the picture with another camera? Why not just pop your card into a reader (most PCs have had them built in for years) and upload form there? I really think its funny when you see pics of the pic displayed on a monitor lol.

I remember having a setup at the cabin and you could only view the picts via the TV. So we took picts of the deer off of the TV with cell phones. There is a reason for everything, especially when your at camp and limited sometimes.

Yeah, SD cards are relatively cheap, and there is nothing faster than simply swapping cards. But don't do like I did once, and lose track of which one you took out vs. the empty one that is to be put in. :D There's nothing worse than standing there looking at one card in your right hand and the other in your left hand and not knowing which one was the empty one. I think it's an age thing. I took a chance figuring the worst that could happen is more pictures would be added onto the old card. Fortunately I had a 50-50 chance and took home the right one.

All of my pics are numbered so that I can easily find them. And I also maintain a database that uses those picture numbers as a reference and notes locations, what is pictured, time of day, direction of where they were heading and a comments column.

I'm not sure how all this info will ever be used, but I figured I should capture all the info in case I come up with a practical use for any of it in the future. Otherwise, it just serves as a fancy index....lol.
