gunner1
I've been thinking about buying another stand to put up behind the house, but I'm a little nervous about scaring away a 10 pointer I've gotten some pics of. Would two weeks be enough time? I want to have it up by next weekend.
pawle76
I think you'll be fine. A lot of hunters change sets during the season. Just be careful and quick as possible. I would do it during the middle of the afternoon when most deer activity slows down and be careful about your scent.
hb270deermanager
Ya ny hunter's right qiuckly, watch your scent and when deer are least likely to be active. Also do it be fore a rain it will help wash away your scent.
fasteddie
Take it out of the box and let it air out before taking it to where you want to install it . Two weeks would be plenty of time .
WNYBuckHunter
I agree, 2 weeks should be good.
sweet old bill
I moved a stand a day prior to the opening day of gun season due to seeing a big buck in the area. On opening day of rain and snow at 230 pm the buck showed up and now is mounted on the living rooom wall. so move the stand...
fasteddie
Two years ago I hunted on my mother's property in Groveland . Passed on a button buck but I saw deer pass by about 100 yards to the East . I had brought a ladder stand with me and set it up around 1 pm . I shot a doe from that stand that afternoon around 4:30 . mossy725
Do it quick. With bow season, deer are still patterned, and you could be successful. With gun season, all bets are off. Deer are no longer patterned and have entered into survival mode. Best of luck.
dave6x6
Yea, i would just do as the others say and be quick about it. Minimize you scent as much as you can and wait for rain to be in forcast if possible. We always keep a couple stands on reserve in case something becomes hot. or we notice a certain pattern develope. Deer Tracker
My stand got stolen over the weekend. Went up this morning and it was gone. They were nice enough to leave my bow hook in the tree. I did'nt have it locked, thought it was safe. Went, and got another one today. Gonna set it up tomorow with two bike locks !

wdswtr
I try to move my stands right before or during rain. Washes the scent away. Do it all the time. Not much different than taking a climber in the woods and using that other than you take the stand back out and do it over and over, you get the point. tughillhunter
I built a 9'x8' stand 3 seasons ago, sat in it the day i finished it, with my diesel generator underneath it and just as the sun was going down i saw 6 doe and a six point. the scent thing is just a myth if you ask me.
