Rattler
The most qualified people to be president in America refuse to run. It's a horrible position to be in. You are under the microscope 24/7/365 and those who don't support you are always attacking and trying to make you appear like an enemy to their base. It's a thankless job and the only people who want it are either looking to fix the problems we have in this land, or looking to be powerful enough to control the masses. Trump is in the former area, while the Democrats are in the latter. He says many stupid things, but I find it difficult to say any of his policies, legislation or agenda items are stupid. It's not that most people really like Trump as a man. It's that they are smart enough to know where we would be if that woman had won the election.

Deleted Account
I've been hesitating to comment on this, but I'll throw a few out. I will say I don't think Trump is stupid, however, I don't like him, and I don't support most of his agenda. I know many on here will disagree with me, and that is fine, I have no issues. 1. The biggest thing against Trump for me is that I don't like him. I don't like how he treats people. I don't like how he sells his ideas. I don't see him as a leader, I don't see him as a positive representation of the best of our country on the world stage. He talks too much, and most of what he says is false, misleading or plain preposterous. 2. I think the tax cuts were short sighted and slanted towards the wealthy. The individual tax cuts end in 2025, while business cuts are perpetual. The cuts have exploded the national debt. 3. I didn't care for his supreme court picks. Being left on many social issues, I did not support either Gorsuch or Kavanaugh because of their hard conservative records. Not knocking anyone for being on the other side, but it's where I stand. 4. I think the wall was a stupid piece of red meat to fire up his base. It's a lot of money for something that is pretty widely regarded as ineffective. 5. Our country is more divided on politics now than it has ever been. Need proof, just cruise through this sub-forum. I miss the days when people could accept differences and work on commonalities. Trump is a product of this division, and he knows it. It got him elected in 2016, and it is his primary driver for 2020. I would really like to get past the "us vs. them" mentality and back to sense of normalcy. Now, I understand that this division is driven hard from both sides, but Trump plays the game as well as anyone. 6. I think his response to the Corona Virus, early on was terrible. Sure they lean hard on the "he shut down travel", but he also went on TV saying that we were safe, we are at 15 cases headed to 0, that the virus would disappear, promoted unproven and dangerous treatments. I really thought at one point he was backing off and letting the experts kind of take control, but he's back out there refusing to demonstrate good leadership, not wearing a mask and pushing dangerous ideas. This is just a short list, I'm sure there are more reasons that I could list if I thought about it, but it really all boils down to the fact that I don't like him, and I will not be voting for him in 2020. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, and I respect the opinions of those of you who support him. I'm sure my 6 points will be ripped to shreds by those who like to "debate" on here, but I really don't care to respond, so type away you keyboard patriots Take care everyone! G-Man
To quote a friend who. Has worked under several administrations and meets with the president on occasion. " trump is not perfect he rides an edge but on whole has done more good than bad. He is not dumb as he knows exactly what he is doing and says many tweets just to push buttons of his rivals who then rush in and throw themselves on the sword he created and he looks better because of it. Anyone who thinks him dumb is simply falling into a well laid trap. Loyalty above all is what he wants from those he surrounds himself with."
Rattler
Splitear, it's not possible to debate your opinions, because they are opinions. I could present evidence refuting the basis of your opinions to counter your assumptions with facts, but that would probably just end in futility, since facts rarely change deep seated opinions. Besides, you've already stated you are not interested in going there. Your main assertion is you just don't like him, which tends to color anything you read or hear about him. If you could step outside of your individual personal dislike for the man and objectively look at what he has done to improve the country, maybe you could see the many positive things that have happened in this land due to his taking the helm. What I see most in your post, are progressive main street media talking points on each subject, probably gathered from the likes of MSNBC, CNN, CBS and many of their highly compensated commissioned salespeople for Socialism, who pass themselves off to the gullible as objective journalists. I also acknowledge I have no right to condemn your choice of information, even if it comes from extremely biased sources like Scarborough and Maddow, but I can certainly debate that decision. As far as the huge divide we see in America today, It has been going on for decades and the media is responsible for it. It's not that the people wouldn't agree to work together if they had a mind to. It's that the media is hell bent on making sure they never have a mind to. That's why Trump has referred to them as an "enemy of the people".
